"Sammy?s Taste of Chicago (Nov. 3, 2022 Visited Milwaukee/Chicago from November 2 with 2 of 3 days spent in the former. Decided to visit Sammy since time constraints prevent me spending enough time on the kitchen in Chicago. As I traveled cheaply and used public transport as my primary means of travel, I took the bus from downtown Milwaukee after visiting the Milwaukee Public Museum (an MUST visit during Milwaukee! on Thursday morning. I've been here for years. Food is always good and cheap. Another plus is that it is one of the only places I know that chocolate can make malt anyway. Don't shake, a malt!

The first time at Sammy is for me, although I've been driving for 15 years. I had an anchor for a sausage sandwich, but was not sure what was on the menu. Sammys has sausage, Italian beef, subs, dogs and another fare. The sandwich made to order was great. The price was moderate. It was a welcome change of Fast Food Burgers.

On more than 1 occasion this place has closed as early 6:00. Just today I showed up at 6:15 and as I was walking up to the door an employee ran to the door before I could walk in and locked it. And then everyone inside ignored me. They are supposed to close at 7:00 pm, or 7:30 pm if you believe Google maps. On their door they have closing time posted as 7:00pm. Customer service is a thing of the past anymore. They could at least have the courtesy to tell me they are closed. So if you ever want to get something to eat at this place you'd better get there at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours before closing time otherwise you're gonna find that they just close early. It makes me wonder if the owner knows...

"had a great culinary experience. lindsey was our server and she was attentive, shared the specials, and everywhere pleasant. the food was delicious, especially the lammkafta. our food was for a business meeting and the ambiente was perfect. lively enough, but still to conduct good talks. great time!"

"Thought this would be more interesting than it was; Oysters on the half shell were served at room temp not on ice... very old interior and unimaginative menu. It was OK we had fun anyway. The server seemed inexperienced but tried hard and that was appreciated. With all of the other area restaurants I'm not sure I'd go back, although we were there on a Monday and I understand they have a better vibe during busier nights."

"let me start from the moment I arrived, until the moment I went, I was treated so well by all the staff. this place has a deep feeling, and that was an experience you can get nowhere else. the host who took our beverage order donna was so incredibly friendly and up to the earth, it felt like making a new girlfriend. the waitress we had (I can't remember her names, but she had dark hair and a fan to make sure she wasn't heated over while serving that I thought was an incredible idea) was exceptional at point and friendly. she made sure we took care of every moment when she noticed something was running low on our table. we were so comfortable with her, we could talk about everything! she was amazing! they start at the bar where they can order a drink and plan their order. Once they have ordered their food, they close their tab at the bar and then they are moved to their edible for their meal. they get a radishes board that includes sweet, pickel, olive and paprika. it was a delicious start and is free with its meal along with brot and salat. my coworker and I ordered both a rib eye. we shared a side of creamy spinat and sparing (the side orders are more than enough to share I did not want my steak rare or medium rare, but in between, and the boil nailed it. the outside of my steaks was perfectly presumed with a delicious crust. the au jus was a bit salty for my pleasure, but it has improved the taste of the steaks. my steak was perfectly boiled where it melted in the mouth with little wall on chew. I almost cried, that was good. I was so incredibly impressed by all the experience, I will be more than happy to make sure that I have this restaurant every time I have to say to wisconsin (I am from ohio but travel to wi for the work the only thing I have to tell the owners are: bravo"
