"Man, I walked into this place with eyes wide open and hopeful. As soon as I opened the filthy front door I was overwhelmed by the stale heat inside. Let me say that today is 95 degrees and humid as hell the internal temperature was a near match. The only difference was that the outside was HUMID and the inside was a sticky Petrie dish. The inside of the place was seriously a shambles. The entryway was filthy, the dining area (or what used to be) was cluttered and filthy. The countertops at the register looked like there'd been cleaned a week or two Pryor. The kitchen area was well, if I were a 4 legged critter I'd be in heaven. Then menu is misleading so (Owner(s)update your prices). I tried to read the menu but the refrigerator in front of it was blocking the lower 1/5th of the menu. It looked more like a chicken stand you'd find in southwest Asia versus an American business here in Louisville. I'd like to say that this place has potential but who am I kidding. Y'all (the public) haven't even updated your reviews on over 6 years. Seriously though, WTF? If your looking for a place to get sick and throw your money away, this is your place. If not, don't bother stopping here as the parking is quite a cluster. At least it's on theme with sh#t show you'll see when you step foot in this place gone rancid. HEY HEALTH DEPARTMENT Get over here and do your job! Seriously the owner of this place needs to go back and take a business management and or hospitality class or two. Hell, maybe even call in Gordon Ramsey or that balding British musclebound chef to do a makeover. You are definitely a top candidate for the show(s). I truly hate ripping you a big one but damn, I've been all over the world and in some of the nastiest places you can think of like Haiti, Honduras, Korea, Eastern Europe, SWA and other places would make your nostrils weep, your skin crawl and your stomach expel it's contents in its entirety. And of all these places that I cannot erase from my mind, your establishment will be a front runner along with the aforementioned. Good Luck..."

"I ordered the small half and half combo last night which was a mixture of wings and drumsticks dressed in the soy garlic and spicy flavors. It came with a side of pickled radish. There are plenty of good KoFC joints around, but Bonchon takes the cake! It was incredible. Looking at the skin, you can see all the flavor in the nooks and crannies ready to make your palate come alive. The soy garlic pieces were nicely balanced. The sweet and sour notes danced in my mouth with the first crunch before settling on an herbal finish. And what a first crunch it was! As I sunk my teeth into the crisp, hot skin of a drumstick a wonderful plume of steam burst forth taking over my senses and surrounding me with a cloud of umami. The wings were a nice size. I usually stuggle with the flat pieces. I find they aren't very good unless fried and, even so, well done. These were a delight. The spicy wings were indeed spicy, and flavorful, but I could have used some sauce on the side. The picked radish was a nice touch and helped break up the flavors. I took this order to go. I hope to update my review with a full sit down session soon."

"I had been waiting for this place to open since I heard it was coming to Chicago. Finally got in while they are still going through their soft opening. I waited over an hour but hey it is a soft opening. The place is small. I hear they are opening in Wicker Park. Do US a favor and pick a bigger place. Now the chicken was, and I mean this with all sincerity, some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. I ordered a 15 piece combo with both flavors. The sweet sticky spicy was an excellent compliment to the soy garlic. Crisp and delicious skin rich in flavor and crunch. I would and will always order both. I didn't eat all i bought but pop the leftovers in a oven at 350°F and it's good eating all over again. Service was good and just enough amount of attentiveness. Blake the manager was a cool guy. Now I will tell you they use a text service to let you know a table is ready should you come when there is a crowd (Which I expect will always be the case). Well if you have AT&T you might not get service down there. The signal become almost non existent I personally cannot wait to return and I'm bringing a hoard of food loving friends. I will be seeing you soon. It is a bit pricey but as a treat every now and then, price is not an issue."

"Takoyaki was comparable to my favorite place that makes it. The garlic soy wings were good, but not great. Good fries, but no other decent sides. The stir-fried rice was a weird and mediocre add-on with wings. They definitely need more traditional wings sides, or better Asian cuisine."

"I love this necklace. Both their soya garlic and spicy aromas are so good. Her chicken was always perfect. And their fries are heavenly. Comes with inlaid radishes or in-law. The combo with 3 drums and 6 wings is about $13. Tried her takoyaki and it was super hot and fresh as you get em in Japan. Service was very friendly. We got beer, that was $5 a cup on tap. You have to wait a little long until the food comes, but you will not be disappointed, promise. In the past I had her ddeobokki and it was also delicious though super duper spicy. Would make the food right at this point as it is beautiful ACed and has plenty of natural bright light and high windows."

"the staff is very friendly and this is a plus for me. the cola from the fountain was flat, and the waiter liked to change it into a bottle. the huh was crispy! if they like super crispy skin, this place is for them. the chicken in brot. I don't know if they bake it, then roast it, cuz the inner is tender and juicy. Flavours are very subtle. Cream sauce on the chicken was sweet and not too garlicky, so good taste! but I wish they had more sauce on the chicken and more season. for my personal preference it only needs more. the spicy was not spicy enough for my taste buds. it was mild Arta spicy. I'm looking forward to tasting more food here. the reason why I had three stars: there was not enough sauce. second, the french ice cold were served. will I have come back? Yes, I would, but I would ask to steam hot food from the kitchen, and would try the chicken strips instead of the wings and drumsticks."

"Ordered the Bibimbap, Sesame Ginger Salad, Fries and the Pork Buns through DoorDash Stellar flavors and textures, well executed given the Bibimbap is normally served in a hot stone bowl. The seasoning on the fries is subtle but addictive and the batter they use on Tofu gives it a great crispy bite. Only way it could be better would be is eating on-site to get the food as hot as possible. Absolute recommendation!"

"This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were warmly greeted by Sydney. She was extremely pleasant and friendly. We were seated promptly and didn't have to wait long. We wanted to sample a bit of everything, so we ordered the 8-piece chicken wings with half sweet chili and soy garlic, along with a side of pickled radish; the pot stickers were also half sweet chili and soy garlic; bulgogi bibimbap; Bulgogi fried rice; Sierra Mist; and sweet tea. The food was freshly prepared and served piping hot. My absolute favorites were the sweet chili pot stickers and wings - they were absolutely delicious! The pickled white radish was extremely fresh and crisp and added a nice touch to every bite. This was my favorite pickled radish dish so far. The food was delicious overall and I highly recommend this restaurant. Even though we live 2 1/2 hours away, we will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. Sydney was incredibly sweet and made our first visit here memorable. Please pass along our thanks to her. Thank you, Sydney, for making our first visit so wonderful."

"The food is delicious and the portions are generous. There were 4 adults in our group and we shared a medium combo and it’s plenty of food for us. The restaurant was very clean, spacious, very well maintained and tastefully decorated. The big screen TVs and bar are great for sports hangouts. "order the first time here Korean fried chicken. the length of the time from the order at the front to actually the food was retained 53 minutes. the food brought home to find tiny wings and dry rice. the legs were good, but dry. the teig was soggy and a little disappointing. the fried rice with huh was not better than any other fried rice everywhere. the potsticker we are the only product that was impressive. long story short, they decide to eat the price for average tasting."

"My mom and I went there yesterday and ordered the soy garlic which was my favorite before this all happened. It came back greasy, kind of stale, and the sauce tasted different than the last time I had it. It tasted like bbq sauce with a bunch of soy sauce dumped in. I’m sure something changed. It was just too salty. When we asked about it, we were told that people often complain about the salt and to ask for it to be brushed on one side next time… so they’re aware it’s too salty??? This is not the BonChon I remember unfortunately. The service was great though! Nothing against anyone there. The food was just not it. The worst part is I was the one who suggested going there because of how much I used to love it. Safe to say it did not live up to our expectations."

"When I was here for the first time, I decided to check the Allston site as he was close. Service was just OK, and your order can be a bit expensive, but the food was just delicious. Havent was back to personally dictate, since only to take orders. A must-have are their renowned soy garlic wings! Fries are always crispy and slightly salted. As for sushi, I was surprisingly impressed. I'm always thrown into a dining room after I've eaten here, because the portions are huge. There was so much taste in everything I tried. experience as a whole was satisfactory; I would definitely suggest Bonchon if you were around."

"We ordered online for pick up. When we arrived to pick it up, the pork buns we ordered were not there but we were still charged for it. The person there said they could not issue a refund because I ordered it online. This is the first the first time I’ve heard of it that an establishment cannot make refunds for something we did not receive. First, they did not call us informing that there were no more pork buns. Second, if I did not ask, they did not tell me I was charged for it. Anyway, they called the manager and I was told I will receive an ema for the refund. I called the following day and was told, I’ll be refunded. Still manager is not around because the person I taked to said he just comes and goes to the restaurant. Third call I talked to the manager and I was offered that they will just give me free pork buns next time I come back to Bonchon. He said that the owner would not be happy to know that they made a mistake in the order and therefore they are avoiding doing refunds. Still I requested for a refund and he said he will give the refund next week. Next week??? Unfortunately, still no email or refund was made or given as promised. We love Bonchon, but I dont think we will be going to this branch. Poor service. They did not even include utensils in the bag even if we requested it in our online order. It is just a small amout but it is a matter of principle and integrity and good customer service."
