"TLDR: Fresh food that hits the spot. Friendly, genuine staff. This place really is a gem. Long: My sister and I were dropped in town by an Uber, waiting for a relative to pick us up for a family vacation. I left her to hang about as I went to get a haircut. When I returned, she was sitting in Mezes with several bowls of food in front of her. 'I thought you REALLY weren 't hungry ' She leans in and whispers 'I 'm not. They just keep bringing food out ' Mezes literally took in my sister, and then me, and fed us 4-5 large portioned bowls of food for free. A gentlemen, who I assume was the owner or manager, chatted with us, explaining the bowls of food, the origins and answered all our questions. He talked about how the restaurant got started and inquired about our own lives and travels. Safe to say, giving away a large amount of free food is not standard practice. I was dumbfounded that these folks simply took us in, fed us and sent us on our way. What an uplifting experience. Suffice to say, we snuck some cash in the tip jar while no one was watching, as they would NOT accept payment for the food. The food was amazing, and not just because it was free."
