"I had heard great things about Friends Saloon for years but had never found the right time to visit. Luckily, a friend suggested it last night and I'm so glad they did. I was craving fish and chips so we headed down Lancaster Street towards Ellenboro. We crossed a narrow bridge and arrived at the sign to Ellenboro, where we saw the restaurant (not too crowded, a good sign). We went up the stairs, through the entrance, and into a cozy and eclectic space. There were plenty of open tables, probably seating around 50 including the bar. Our server greeted us promptly and handed us menus filled with enticing options. I focused on the seafood choices since that's what I was there for. There were four options for fish: catfish, blue gills, and flounder (we chose the last two). Each dish came with two sides and a roll, with an additional side in a basket. I chose Steak-Fries and Hush Puppies for my sides, which were both delicious. The flounder was good, but I plan to try the cod next time. My friend's blue gills dish came with a generous portion, while my basket had three tasty pieces (I ordered an extra side). The prices were very reasonable, the food came out quickly, the music was at a pleasant volume, and the service was excellent. The only minor complaints were that there was too much food for dessert and it was a bit chilly by the window. Overall, Friends Saloon is now a favorite spot and will definitely be in our dining rotation."
