"Best Sushi in Winston Salem, bar none. From a former So. California girl who has been eating Sushi since 1961 in restaurants that were owned and run by Japanese: this is consistently the best sushi and sashimi I 've had here. I can 't compare it to other places in High Point or Greensboro because I haven 't tried any of their 'Japanese ' restaurants. I 've lived in Winston Salem only five years now and I 've tried four other sushi places and Sakura has the freshest fish of any, and they actually know how to prepare tempura so that it is light and lacy. This is also the only place I know of where you can get some shiso, which is a leaf often found at Japanese sushi restaurants in California, and which my daughter and I like very much. Our favorite waiter is Luke. He 's very knowledgeable and speaks some Japanese, even though he is of Chinese decent and grew up in Indonesia. I, my daughter, a friend and my two grandsons love this place. Only things missing in presentation are daikon threads that usually accompany some sushi dishes and sashimi (takes some skill in learning how to do this); and the traditional style of serving white fish, like red snapper, with ponzu sauce with finely shredded topping of scallion or tobiko. One dish I miss that doesn 't appear on any Japanese menu here locally is Sukiyaki, one of the best and most well known nabi dishes of Japan."

"I'm sadly writing a one star review of this new restaurant, which is shocking because it's nearly a 5-star restaurant on Google. We were in the mood for more/less healthy lunch and were in the mood for teriyaki and a sushi roll. Was excited to find this new restaurant. Ordered takeout, the gentleman on the phone was friendly, polite, and prompt with our order. This bad review comes from the quality of the food. We ordered lunch portions of chicken hibachi and beef bowl with side salads and two sushi roles. When we both opened the containers the first thing we noticed was the pale/stale color 9f the meet. My chicken. Was cut into odd shapes, rubbery, dry, not fresh tasting. The vegetables were darn near brown and soggy. The beef was shredded to oblivion and was also dry. We looked at the sushi roles. The spicy tuna was mashed together, rubbery, dry, rice mushy and cold. They didn't seem freshly made at all, where fresh rolls tend to be delicate and almost fall apart when you eat them. These rolls were one solid round dry mush. The unagi roll was bland. Our stomachs turned sour and we no longer trusted the safety of this food. The side salad was simply bagged lettuce with a side dressing. Our meal cost $60 in total, and all that was edible was the rice that came in the meals. I'm sorry for such a critical review, but this food was not edible. It has the appearance of last night's leftovers, for real. I wish this place luck in the future."
