"We're from Salem and in Coos Bay for a couple days, and attracted to Blue Heron by the large menu on the website. I normally go for seafood when on the coast, but was drawn to the the cordon blue Schnitzel...and not disappointed. A large portion, half of which will become tomorrow's lunch or dinner. My wife went with the grilled salmon and thought it was excellent. Two great dishes. We normally forgo dessert, but the freshly baked cakes in the display were too temping. My wife had the carrot cake. As an aficionado of good carrot cake, she thought it might be the best she has ever had. (And from her, that is a compliment! I had the chocolate peanut butter (gluten free cake, which was excellent, creamy...and would not have guessed it was GF. Great selection of import and local beers on tap. Okay, the music was dated, but we are old and so what the heck. Nice covered, heated outdoor seating, so our pup could join us. Overall, Adam is a great chef and baker. We liked the setting. Highly recommend Blue Heron."
