"The Neighbourhood was frightening. They didn’t have a liquor license so we had to go across the street to buy beer and wine. The food was actually good but they gave us plastic glasses to drink our wine and beer which was disappointing."

"If you are making a reservation for a party greater than 10, PLEASE REQUEST TO NOT HAVE YOUR PARTY SEATED BY THE BATHROOM AREA. IT IS EXTREMELY DARK IN THAT SECTION, TO THE POINT YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE MENU. YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE YOUR FOOD. ALSO, it is next to the patio door where smoke come and go for their smoke breaks, so add cold breeze and whifts of cigarettes. The lighting either needs to be brighter or don't utilize this area at all. If I would have known this is where we would be seated, I would have not made reservations and went to another restaurant because this completely killed the mood for everyone."

"A very wide menu with a large selection of premium sake. The food was excellent and the service superbe. This is not the standard sushi boat kind of restaurant, you don’t find California Roll or Teka Maki, this is for aficionados of Japanese cuisine."

"SUCH a cool place! We were at Hyatt Regency after a positioning flight in SFO to fly to Europe the next day. We found Mokutanya on Yelp just 3 minutes from our hotel. It was soooo cool! I've never been to such a restaurant. The tables are divided into rooms through glass partitions and each have sunken areas where your legs go. The spits were so amazing. Our favorites were the spicy pig bell, black cod, spicy caravan and the bacon Enoki mushroom growers. Everyone who worked there was really nice. Be warned... Last call (on Tuesday) is 10:00, not a minute later. The atmosphere turns from dark, atmospheric, romantic with great house or pop music to bright lights and mops on the ground the second it will be 11:00. I wish that would not be the case, but otherwise we recommend!!"

"As we were walking back to our hotel, not even feeling hungry, we caught a whiff of the delicious aromas from a kitchen grill on the street. The enticing scent lured us in, and we ended up stopping by for a couple of drinks and some small bites. It was all incredible."
