"Food wasn't exceptional. My dining partner had broiled catch of the day (wahoo , I had the broiled scallops and shrimp pasta, we shared the island sampler. The appetizer was quite good, though the oysters are served without the typical pairing (lemon, horseradish, hot sauce. While coconut shrimp aren't my favorite, these were much better. The coconut was mild; it's flavors more subtle and less forward than I anticipated. The wahoo smoked fish dip was very nice. The crab cakes didn't look like anything special, rather thin and failed to demonstrate they contained any firm lumps of crab. Mostly appeared to be breading. Overall, I was pleased with this broad offering of items generally not seen in restaurant sampler offerings. My pasta dish was very rich, not spicy at all. Favored creole pasta dishes more than the expected spicy blackened seasoning. The scallops and shrimp were unremarkable. My dining companion found the catch, also, underwhelming. Described as bland, served with premade coleslaw. We found the decor pleasant but the divided menu based seating a bit strange. We came with the expectation of having brunch. When the host sat us, we weren't informed that brunch was only served in another part of the restaurant. By this time, our appetizer order was in, so we didn't request to move. By the end of our visit, we agreed it's rare to be disappointed with trying a new place, but our general experience wasn't necessarily one we'd actively seeking the future."
