"Our food was great but the service was awful. We waited 30 minutes to receive our check, as did the table next to us that had small children. During that time, our plates weren't even cleared. When our table of 6 asked for refills on drinks, she took each glass away, one at a time, and brought it back. Whenever we asked for something, such as salt and pepper, she acted as if we were putting her out or asking for something special or unreasonable. She wore a rumpled shirt that looked like she had just gotten out of bed, not something you expect for the menu price. Our service at this restaurant has never been very friendly but at least we received service."

"It's great to see the new restaurants in Austin. They have a great patio to enjoy and a nice inside dining area as well. You will want to make a reservation as it fills up. "While we go on holiday through Santa Cruz, we decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews. It is one of the better rated restaurants in the area. The location is amazing... You drive on a small pier where there are a number of restaurants and shops. Many birds, seals and people fish. Great place to hang out and enjoy the view. The restaurant itself is quite cool, they have small windows in the floor so you can see the seals hanging under the restaurant. The ambience is the place, so we asked for a table at the window. No one was available and the hostess offered us no opportunity to wait, she said she could have us in the bar area, the offered rotating seats so give everyone the opportunity to have a window view. She said it was really nice and people like it, so we went unwillingly with it and hated it. It's like going to dinner several times from night to day. When the wheel turns, go from light to dark, then back to light, then dark. It was a very depressing experience for us. Also within 5 minutes of sitting, all except one of their window seats were available. It would have been nice if the hostess was attentive enough to realize almost all through the window, had finished their meals and was ready to go before they were on this rotating bike. Nevertheless, we turned an hour. Our waitress gave recommendations on drinks we tried. Nothing that happened there, they were pretty, but fruity, beaten kind of drinks. The food was decent. My husband ordered the burger who was slightly dry, but the Mayo and Pineapple salsa added a great taste to the dish. I ordered the cattle and chicken kegs. They had no taste, but were edible. We were underwhelmed by all the experience. Also, we were really upset with the waiter constantly on foot. You have to go over the rotary wheel to get to the kitchen, so that she constantly went around tables to get drinks and food that increases the inconvenience of the culinary experience."

I never eat here. our server was attentive and engaged, but had bad knowledge about the menu. eating was good; I would go back as I accuse the lead for this mentioned misfortune for bad personal training. has seen a lot of employees sitting around, about 20 percent of the staff made 80 percent of the work. Now I know why it was the only place in st. charles old town, I could make a reservation on a Friday evening to an evening meal."

"Seems like the restaurant is about to close and the Management does not care. There was a total of (3) people working with the bartender doing almost every job with the exception of cooking the food. Our server was actually the best part of the experience, he was great. The food and drinks were very slow to come out and we were charged a 20% gratuity on the bill which I’ve never seen before. Will definitely not be back and recommend you spend your money elsewhere."

"Can’t say enough good things about this place and about Chris (owner I believe). The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD good (I had the ribeye, wife had the flounder). We kept eating even though we were full. Wife got a mocktail, off menu, made on the fly,that was the best she’d ever gotten. The service was outstanding. Tried this place for date night based off OpenTable reviews,and they were above and beyond what we were expecting. "There's good BBQ in this town and there's great BBQ in this town. Freedmen's is definitely in the latter category. I understand not wanting to settle for mediocre BBQ when there are some very good options in town. What I don't understand is why anyone would wait in a hour line when the food at Freedmen's is just as good actually, better, in my opinion as the other place that starts with an F. Sides at BBQ restaurants aren't usually my favorite, but anyone who even remotely likes beets will be blown away by the roasted beets with gruyere cheese. Also, the German potatoes are much more flavorful than your typical potato salad.The brisket has an amazing crust and is super tender. The ribs both pork and beef fall right off the bone"

"We were in the area and wanted to grab a quick coffee before hitting the road. Starting off, the parking situation (not totally under their control) is quite scary. Those lots are chaos when it's busy. I saw people making their own spots on sidewalks, in the lanes in the lots to where cars were stuck, etc. We luckily ended up on the side road. Inside was extremely busy. We just needed something to go, and the line was maybe about 10-15 minutes. It didn't seem that long, so I was quite sure what the issue was. There's not a lot of space to line up and I felt a little bad as everyone in line is weaving through the tables and we're pretty much standing over tables as people eat. We ordered our coffees and the service was very quick. To the point where I couldn't even figure out how they were ready that fast, but that's fine. Coffee was also very good. I had a mocha and my wife had a cold brew. I'm definitely not a connoisseur, but I thought it was delicious. Outside of the chaos, I would be curious to see how other items are and try a meal."
