"Well this is my first time eating here so everything I say is preliminary.Taste we had tempura shrimp, edamame, gangsta roll and a spicy chicken teriyaki bowl. The tempura shrimp had great flavor and I liked the panko that was on it but the sauce not so much. The edamame was hot and I liked the rock salt on top, just wish it was mixed in a bowl while evenly seasoning it with the salt before plating. The gangsta roll was decent but the sauces were confusing the flavor and it tasted like a rice candy with a touch of crab flavor at the end. I loved the fact that the chicken was actually grilled, you can taste the fire char and the rice was good too. The veggies on top of the bowl were perfectly crunchy and cooked.Customer Service the service here wasn’t present as much as I thought it’d be, they did seem a bit busy though. We were never asked if we were doing ok or needed anything else. Food came out in decent time and the lighting was a bit dark.Price for 3 tempura shrimp it was $9. Each shrimp is $3 a bit overpriced. If you’d like to serve the shrimp, I’d recommend 3 for $7 and 5 for $10. The edamame was average price for the amount but honestly it was a lot of food for an appetizer. You can save money and food waste if you give two options for edamame, a single and a share option, try and do that, trust me it will work for the best. The roll was priced like any other sushi place, not much to say. The spicy chicken teriyaki was the best priced for the quantity. I wasn’t able to finish it and it had a lot of rice as well.In conclusion, I’d like to try this place again knowing what I know now. I hope owner/management looks into what I said and I think this place has potential. Cheers!"

"I want to specify this; it is currently late in the year 2021, for clarifications to other reviews and photos posted on Google/Google Maps, in reference to reviews about this restaurant. I ordered through a third party delivery partner, but I looked up the menu items I was unfamiliar with, as I was unable to believe I was getting 7 (SEVEN! items within my bento box, as it showed on the delivery partners website! However I was able to confirm that as well as through looking the restaurant up, while I continued looking for the listed and specified menu item included (discludes ingredients within the menu items descriptions, to further help me in selecting the best choice for myself. Should you (Which, Yes, You Should! order one of this restaurants Bento box dinners, you receive your chosen entre, gyoza, a house salad, a soup (pint sized container, tempurad veggies, white rice, and their California roll. Check out my accompanying photos as, I wanted to provide the best feedback and review, as well as up to date review possible, for this restaurants delivery only experience; especially since I ordered mine through my favorite delivery partner DoorDash. Additionally because I had seen someone had written a review that they tried to go there to eat, and they are still currently operating under take out orders, or deliveries, as well as third party delivery partner ordering, at this moment. The food is fresh, exquisite, well worth the cost, provides an amazing variety, and is served complete with wasabi, fresh ginger, soy sauce, chopsticks, spoons/forks/napkins. Which I wasn't expecting as well. I am so so so very happy, pleased, thrilled, and will be a repeating customer, to this amazing Japanese, Sushi, Chinese, Americanized Flair of Fare style in which is devoted to true description. Additionally because I'm so pleased and have been so disappointed in far too many other restaurants delivery and take out descriptions until I already had opened it at home..... Sushi Kampai is a leader in bang for buck, great taste with variety, and I pass along my compliments to management, and also my compliments and my appreciation to their chefs, and to my delivery partner and driver!!! Killer team! Killer price! Killer quantity!!!! And killer meal that is more than enough to feed two.... Although, who wants to share instead of having leftovers!!!!! It is well worth it to share your leftovers the next day, just as my, maybe a better suggestion if you may want one slightly different entree, but do not dislike the other person's choice and live together or will be together for two or three days in a row. This restaurant knocked it out of the park, as I am a New Yorker, who has Finally after 3 years found my go to for all of the above food cravings and options listed previously within my review. I hope when you do order you enjoy this fantastic treasure as much as I have, and will continue to do! Enjoy happy eating, dinning, sharing, and experiences that help us ma"

"This place has just raised their prices by almost 50%. I’ve used to get the same items for each order (with minor changes). Generally, it has come to $35. Yesterday, they started quoting me $50. FOR THE SAME ITEMS. I’ve always accepted that their fish (I order salmon sashimi) has a faint smell of cleaning detergent – the same smell you experience when you step into their restaurant (at least since Covid – it always smells like bleach or some sort of cleaning detergent). Which I don’t’ mind too much since I ‘clean’ my sashimi in soy sauce and ‘butter’ it in freshly grated wasabi. But my wife NEVER eats their sushi because of the lingering smell…. Anyway, I have been just fine for the last few months as it hit the need. I knew what to order, I knew what quality I’d get and I’d be fine with it for the price of $35 (for my 4x salmon sashimi, which are 12 slices of salmon, and one order of the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer). But imagine my surprise when I ordered the same for take out yesterday – and was told it would now be $49 and change. Seriously? Almost 50% more expensive? I immediately canceled the order. Then I drove to the restaurant and asked for a paper/take out menu with the updated prices. They didn’t have one. They told me to take pictures of their eat in menus. Which, seriously…. come one… Also, that menu doesn’t even show the sashimi options. Anyway, I mentioned to the person at the 'reception’ that I’m surprised about the price increase (and its magnitude) and – unasked – a guy sitting close to the sushi counter shouts over to me that it’s the fault of ‘inflation’. Yeah, right. Inflation is at fault for an almost 50% price increase… Anyway: I did appreciate the convenience of this place and that it offered me what I sometimes wanted – but hell no, I’m not gonna pay almost 50% more for something that’s only just so hitting the spot (when ignoring the smell of the actual sushi/fish and in your mind deducting value for that fact). Damn, you cray cray! For other items on the menu: The soups are alright. Overpriced for what you get. The fried rice options… ridiculously overprice for what you get. $15for a fried rice. Ouch. Sushi rolls: meh. Flavor is ok. Effort going into them: nill. Lingering smell of detergent (see above): always there – but mostly masked by the sauces and spices they add to their rolls. ‘mains’: not worth the money. Really. I’ve tried most if not all of them, they are definitely overpriced. Worst thing: about a year or so ago, ownership changed. What used to be an ‘interested’ group of people owning/running the place has been replaced by people not giving a rat’s a about anything. Seriously. It’s comical. Just go order take out and drop by to pick it up. You’ll see what I mean immediately ? Oh, and eating in... damn, you 'd be disappointed if you expected any sort of atmosphere... That place is always empty. People only deal with it to take out. And, as said above, it ALWAYS has a smell of bleach (even the fish starts smelling of it)."
