"I give Roy Boys 3.5 stars. I visited early on a Sunday evening before attending an event at the Howard Theatre a few blocks away. I 've been seeing so much about Roy Boys on social media and it has been on my to-try list for a while. When I arrived, I sat at the bar. Luckily for me, it was happy hour at the time. Roy Boys is popular for their fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. I decided to partake in the happy hour specials and ordered the chicken sliders with a side of fries. My drink of choice was the Oruña. Everything was ok. I didn 't feel like anything stood out to make me rush to return but everything was solid. I didn 't want anything too heavy at the time but I would like to return to try a full-sized chicken sandwich as well as their fried chicken with sides. Oh! And they have ice cream tacos! That is something I definitely want to get during my next visit. Roy Boys has a pretty cool atmosphere. You 'll see cool art, including portraits of hip-hop artists, throughout the restaurant. They also have a pretty bomb playlist going. My server was nice as well. They automatically add gratuity to your bill and my server made me aware of that before I signed the check. Another thing to note is that they don 't accept cash. When I 'm in the area again, I 'd like to check out Roy Boys again to try some other menu items."

"The experience at this restaurant was disappointing from start to finish. Despite having reservations for 6:30, we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated because they claimed they didn't notice our booking. When we tried to order appetizers, they were out of everything we wanted. The oysters we eventually ordered took 25 minutes to arrive, and when our meals did come, the "half chicken" dish we ordered consisted of random pieces of chicken with no white meat. The food was nothing special, with the only highlights being the tasty brussels sprouts, fair mac & cheese, and good biscuits. Overall, it was a letdown and I'm not sure if I would return, despite my initial high expectations."

"Although the Chef and the hostess had the best of intentions, our recent experience attending what was supposed to be the Sunday Brunch was extremely disappointing. First we had to wait an hour for service! We stayed at the table for 1 hour with just water. I had brought guests with the intention to be a great sendoff. We arrived at 1:36 which was later than our 1:15 pm. reservations but the restaurant only had a few guests. Each order of tea took at east 15 minutes and it was served without sugar, already mixed. The female waitress seemed afraid to talk and would hear our orders and leave, never to return until we stopped her. Twice I had to go to the kitchen and my guest one time to figure out what was going on. Note the sisters did offer a discount for the meal stating that the kitchen was closing down when we arrived. Closing time was 3:00 and if that were the case, they should have said so, we would have gone off and be willing to try it another time. It was a wonderful location and ambiance but horrible service and well below par food. The omelet was really just scrambled eggs. They ran out of biscuits (didn't tell us) and just brought us white bread!!Really for Brunch. No buffet because they did not have enough reservations. Shouldn't you have just said this at the beginning so we could exercise our options? The shrimp and grits were passable but our guests did not enjoy their meals. They did not get all items they ordered. We had delayed eating all day for this meal and instead got something less than a diner would offer. They did tell us they were recently from Italy and started this business in March. Our suggestion is to emphasize 3 things...improve the food, improve the menu, and certainly at least train the new female waitress to attend to her customers and display some personality. In other words customer service!!"

"What a fabulous neighborhood restaurant. We met friends for dinner and were seated in their outside patio. Well placed heaters kept us comfy even though it was in the 40's last night. Our server was friendly, kind and attentive. We brought our own wine and the corkage is reasonable. I had the Pitman Farms Duck Leg Confit which comes on a salad of mixed greens with some roasted potatoes and carrots. Two legs done to perfection and perfectly matched with the salad. My friend chose the Braised Short Rib Rigatoni and was delighted. His wife chose the Little Gem Lettuce w/ Pistachio Vinagrette salad for her entree while my wife had the Butternut Squash Ravioli. The food here is consistently excellent and reasonably priced. We need to come here more often!"

"My daughter got me on the 14th. April for birthday dinner. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The prices were reasonable, atmosphere comfortable, tasteful hip music played as a background added to the ambience and not drowning entertainment. Excellent creamy Clam Chowder homemade, not preserved. Calamari appetizer slightly baked and fried to delicate perfection. My daughter loved the shrimp Sampi and I enjoyed the red snapper, boiled to tender flocking perfection and so fresh. Homemade potatoes and buttered green beans deliciously prepared. Wait staff pampered my picky preference for a really hot pot Earl Grey tea take my direction on how it should be prepared. (Where to present to the restaurants that present a cup of tepid water with a tea bag still packed). A free birthday dessert of my choice was the cream brulee served with an illuminated candle. What is not to love about Oberon Grill?"
