"The Shanghai soup dumplings were flavorful, but unfortunately, they ended up being soup-less. They might have been prepared earlier than the other dishes and, while sitting in the container, the soup soaked into the wrappers. Similarly, the scallion pancakes arrived only mildly warm and were rather soggy instead of crispy or flaky, probably because they also sat in the container while we waited for the other items.
On a brighter note, the lotus leaf sticky rice, shumai, and fried dumplings were fantastic; we will definitely be ordering those again next time. The peanut noodles were decent, but there were a lot of noodles and not enough sauce, which left many of them, especially at the bottom, tasting quite plain. I did appreciate that there were actual peanuts in the dish and not just peanut sauce!
The restaurant itself is a tiny hole in the wall with just one or two small tables at the front. I can’t imagine anyone dining in since it seems like they primarily focus on takeout. Unfortunately, this means that some dishes might not be consumed immediately after preparation, potentially leading to the soupless dumplings and soggy pancakes we experienced. Overall, I’d rate the food 4 out of 5 and will definitely order from here again!"
