"Genuinely in the sheer lack of effort that went into the meal. Salsa was frozen. The guac tasted store bought. And the beans were like ice and dry like hell. There was also NO FLAVOR. Not even to compensate hot sauce on the table. I will say her meat was tender and pleasant to eat, but tasted like something from a midwest kitchen, not a MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN CALIFORNIA!! I really wanted to like this place, but I think they have given themselves to catering for their most common customers and quality..."

"I just happened upon this place, it was very clean, the staff very pleasant. The food was fresh as advertised and made to order. I ordered the chimichanga carne asada, the presentation was perfect but I can't say the taste impressed me. It was lacking something, but I don't know what. My wife ordered Tony's special plate and enjoyed it, while my young son got the carna asada fries. The kids plate was huge, and enough for an adult. Also the horchata was homemade and delicious, I'd definitely recommend Tony's to everyone."

"I have always loved chapala and often went to her original restaurant on caldwell years ago, but had a recent experience with a waiter called johnny that I wanted to share. I met a friend and her daughter (who made a very difficult time) for dinner on a Friday night. the daughter shared her story with us and was extremely emotional. johnny came by and read the table and the mood fast. he could have easily ignored the situation, took our order and could call it good. not johnny! he told the daughter that he was sorry that she was sad that we were going through all the hard times, but we always find a way through her. He pointed out that she was blessed because she had friends to talk to them. every time he was over, he had more words of encouragement and even gave her a hug when she asked for one. she really needed this hug! that is the kind of customer service they cannot teach! johnny is a passionate person who sees and understands the worth in everyone. he offered a young woman in the crisis a sympathetic ohr and friendliness that it really needed. when I open my bar, I'm stealing johnny from you to monitor the waiting staff. He's a phenomenal man and you're lucky to have him!"
