"The restaurant that ruined my daughter's sweet 16 birthday cake!!!!! I went to my daughter's 16th birthday party and they brought a special cake called a bouquet cake. After we finished eating, the waiter brought us a cake, but he had removed the decorations from the cake. The waiter put it back in its original position, but it wasn't the cake. This cake was custom-made, so it was impossible for the waiter to put it back in its original position. What's so great about an expensive restaurant that serves delicious food? This is the restaurant that ruined my daughter's one and only sweet 16th birthday cake!!!!! Can you call a restaurant like this a great restaurant? In my experience, it's a shame to give a restaurant only one star for its lack of common sense. My daughter will never have another 16th birthday party because time cannot be turned back. I will never go to this restaurant again. The restaurant owner needs to choose his staff wisely."

"Be cautious when reserving hibachi on opentable. They display reservation times that are not actually available. We received a call an hour before our reservation informing us of this, and had to engage in multiple conversations with the manager to finally figure out how to accommodate us at a time slot 15 minutes later. This wouldn't have been an issue except it was a reservation for a double birthday party and we had guests driving in over an hour to meet us. Despite technically accommodating the reservation, our party was seated poorly and we waited at least 15 minutes before ordering a drink, another 15 to receive all the drinks, and a total of 45 minutes before we received our food order."

"We ate at Sakura after attending an event at the convention center and it served up everything we needed. The food was very tasty and fairly priced. We were served complimentary hot tea when we sat down, which was appreciated. One of our dishes came out about 10 minutes after all of the others, but that was the only real negative, and happens. The waitress was apologetic when we asked for it and got it to us quickly once we alerted her that we hadn’t received it yet. The location was also great for a quick spin around Chinatown to walk off our meal."

"This is the second time I've been, once after work with coworkers for dinner and a drink and it was super busy. This time was at lunch on a weekday and it wasn't crowded at all. The bartender was my server. I ordered the Pastrami Benedict and it was huge and very satisfying comfort food. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was delish. It came with a large serving of hashbrowns and a side of fresh strawberry slices. I had a brewed iced tea, which was perfect. I will definitely return, everything was perfect."

"Hugo's is a really special place in Portland. Although the city is bursting with amazing restaurants, they still manage to be unique and cutting-edge. I will fully admit that I have had some dishes here that simply don't work for me but that is part of the fun of dining at a restaurant that is constantly trying to innovate. And the dishes that I didn't care for are clearly outweighed by the majority that I found wonderful over the course of my half dozen meals here. This is not to mention the absolute top-notch service you can expect at a real fine dining establishment like those sporting fancy Michelin stars. I always felt extremely welcomed and catered to whenever visiting them. A particular reason that Hugo's has a fond place in my heart is that they served me one of the handful of dishes I've had that not only was incredible but actually changed the way I thought about food and what it could be. Around five years ago I shared a large-format ribeye steak with five other people that changed my life. My stomach was already so miserably/joyfully full by the time it was served. The fact that this juicy, fatty, umami-filled piece of meat was good enough that I still managed to eat another half pound of food and love every bite speaks to just how awesome it was. As you can tell I'm passionate about a good steak and since then I've learned to make one (almost) as good as that but it was still enough to keep me coming back time and time again."

"we loved this restaurant before covid. this time when we were there, a fire alarm went out. When we came back, our food was cold. they only heated 1 person meal in our party. the salads were three pieces of salate and a cucumber. the hot tee was cold and they no longer serve him in a pot. the chef who made our food at the table has not added enough soy sauce. I ordered steak and garnel. the person who took our order wrote steak and huh. When I tried to explain, they brought me four. the cold dinner cost us over $90 and we didn't order any alcohol. very disappointing."

"I had been hearing about Tasu from my friends for a while and finally had the chance to visit for a surprise birthday dinner party. The staff at the restaurant were prompt in taking our drink and food orders for our group of 8, and they checked in on us regularly throughout the evening. Everyone in our group received their orders correctly and did not have to wait long for refills on drinks. While everyone else ordered sushi and loved it, I tried the chicken hibachi and found it to be delicious. It was a fantastic dinner to celebrate our friend's birthday and I am looking forward to coming back again."

"We chose Hugo's to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and the meal was a joy from start to finish. Five small courses, and each one was well prepared with great flavor and attention to detail. The service was outstanding. Definitely a place for that special event meal. We were there for over two hours but did not feel rushed. A gem!"

"must have a culinary experience! I came with my family to go to the casino. unexpectedly we decided to stop in the restaurant and have dinner. we had no idea what we expected to have starved. eating is absolutely delicious! I had that huh parmesan. my father had the huhn marcella and said it was the best he had ever, my mother had the lasagne bolognese and loved it too. By the way, the lasagne is huge, so they bring her appetit if that is what they choose. I asked our waiter keith to add alfredo to my pasta. not only that he did, my food came fast and super hot. he filled out my drink without asking and made sure we had everything we needed. when it was time for dessert, my mother keith asked the waiter what was the difference between ice and gelato. keith took a few minutes to talk to her and was gracious enough to explain it. I had the tiramisu and my parents shared the cannolis. our dessert choices were the perfect end of a delicious dinner. they are the little touches that made our experience exceptional. our waiter was attentive and the manager, ricardo, came to our table to ask us how our meal was and was very friendly. we live far from the casino so there is a contract. we were able to have a nice and tasty dinner and still go and enjoy the casino and make it home in a decent hour. if they decide that they want to eat and then go to the casino, I would recommend this restaurant 100"
