"Our office wanted a Chinese place close to our office in Downtown LA to entertain a visitor and we were delight to find Peking Tavern. We trusted the reviews and booked a table. The reservation process online was easy to administer and the table was ready for us by arrival. The food itself was amazing. The portions were small for the price (i.e. 6 dumplings/order) though. We tried a variety of dishes and none disappointed. Our gripe was about quickly the food was ready. For a party of 8 and perhaps 10-12 dishes, it took 90 minutes to get everything out. The first dish took 20 minutes to come out and it was the seafood dumplings. The last dish was the veggie dumplings, almost 90 minutes after ordering, to which the server told us it takes the longest to prepare (doesn't make sense). It was unacceptable and no good explanation was given. It embarrassed us. We won't be going back anytime soon. We hope that the speed of service is something that is not normal. The food is terrific but the wait wasn't worth it."
