"absolutely brilliant place! one of the best and coolest little bbq joints I ever had and I was on 100 bbq joints all over the country. I would give it up to 5 on my list. Mac cheese was phenomenal. mushrooms were phenomenal. brisket was really good. cornbread was good. pickles were good. homemade sauces were all good. they also gave me a free pecan pier ice cream for my birthday, which was absolutely out of this world. service was good. I will be back in any case!"

"My husband and I went to dinner and I have to say it was great. The food was very good, but the service was even better. The bartender came to our table and gave a story explanation of the menu and cooking process, then he and another sever came back to check on us several times; super attentive. We had the crabcake sandwich and triple burgers, both were excellent. It was a great experience and we will be back."

"Sooo disappointed!! I hadn?t visited the restaurant in quite some time because every time I have gone, they never seem to get things right. Even this time, I ordered 3/4lb of burnt ends and had I not looked at the container before exiting the restaurant,it would have only been 1/4 lb. Actually that would have been fine since I am throwing them in the GARBAGE?. WORST I have everhad. They have no flavor, just bland nothing that tastes like it was soaked in honey, absolutely no other flavor at all. Nogarlic, no pepper, no seasoning at all. Do they not have a quality control person to make sure the food prepared is good enoughto serve? After checking the burnt ends, they might want to also check the brisket beans that are super watery/liquidity andspicier than he double L. I called the restaurant to ask if the recipe for the burnt ends had changed and she said no. I lether know how bad they are and her reply was, ?sorry about that.? Seriously after just spending $22.42 on the burnt ends, sorryabout that was the best she could do?? My bill was $50.17 total and I will not be returning. Not only is the food poor qualitybut the customer service matches."

"Drove 40 minutes to eat there. The service was some of the best I ever had, and the urethra was excellent. It's worth the ride. The bucket of bacon is a must try. I really enjoyed my experience there. I'm going back!"

"The food was not very good her, we all ordered something different and none of us were impressed. But the atmosphere is nice. It seem like a nice spot to just link up and have drinks and party favors. Nothing more"

"I was working a little bit longer in Bethesda today than I anticipated, and I had a craving for a grilled cheese sandwich. I decided to look at restaurants in the area that was within walking distance from my job, and I settled on Heckman's Deli. I was especially excited to try the grilled cheese BLT sandwich meal, and so I ordered that for pickup through Uber Eats. It was ready within 10-15 minutes, and I couldn't wait to eat it. Unfortunately, when I got to the sandwich, I discovered that it was just a plain grilled cheese sandwich. No bacon, lettuce, tomato, or mayo. I was utterly confused and saddened by this. I ended up calling the restaurant and the manager was shocked that my order was wrong after I explained to her what happened. She apologized and I appreciated it very much. Even though the restaurant couldn't give me a refund, I was able to get my money back via Uber Eats. I'm not sure what happened today that caused my sandwich to be totally wrong, but I'm willing to give this place another chance. I may have to try ordering the food through the website as opposed to Uber Eats, but I will still give Heckman's Deli a try again as the food was excellent."

"There's good BBQ in this town and there's great BBQ in this town. Freedmen's is definitely in the latter category. I understand not wanting to settle for mediocre BBQ when there are some very good options in town. What I don't understand is why anyone would wait in a hour line when the food at Freedmen's is just as good actually, better, in my opinion as the other place that starts with an F. Sides at BBQ restaurants aren't usually my favorite, but anyone who even remotely likes beets will be blown away by the roasted beets with gruyere cheese. Also, the German potatoes are much more flavorful than your typical potato salad. The brisket has an amazing crust and is super tender. The ribs both pork and beef fall right off the bone"

"First time customer during restaurant week. The restaurant was not busy. But the service was extremely SLOW. We had to wait 30 plus minutes for our appetizers. About 20 minutes for our entrees and about 15 minutes for our dessert. Our server was nice, but the SLOW service and lack of attentiveness made what could have been a very nice experience mediocre. There were some menu items that was of interest to me, but I am very hesitant to give the restaurant another try......the service was just too bad."

"I'm giving 5 stars because it's usually very good. Yesterday I paid for my usually extra lean corned beef on steamed Kaiser with spicy mustard. Unfortunately it was not lean. I guess that part was not relayed to the person who made my sandwich, I wish they had not relayed the charge to the cashier."

"Our daughter-in-law came with my wife and I to this smoky meat palace and we're sure we did it! All we tried was the best of the best. we have the three meat plate with two sides and have an additional meat. The damp final breeze...the lady who took our order asked me to specify....most places leave it up to you, but you need to request it....here they ask...love this. The brisket had tons of taste and almost apart delicate, in my top 2 or 5 all the time, that is the good stuff human. The St. Louis-style pork ribs were in the upper two....that was good. The turkey was in the same stellar class of silence. We have a connection from their fine traditional sausage, which was also 5 stars. The plate came with 2 small containers of their BBQ sauce, they only do one way, but they do it well....this 'Q don't need any sauce anyway. The pages were as amazing as the 'Q. The fried okra on the menu helped us through this fantastic joint over another highly rated 'Q place that was okra 5 stars. Our daughter-in-law loves perpetrator salad and her version meets all our spots....until the last bite....all we disappeared. We'll come back with our son. This is a little distance from our house, but well worth the ride...."

"I visited on a Sunday night in December so there was obviously a long line, but it was well worth it. The wait for take out was maybe 15 minutes at the most. I got the plain cheesecake slice to share and regret not getting one whole slice for myself instead of sharing. It's the best cheesecake I've had. They don't make them like that in California at least! Definitely recommend that one!"

"eating is good. I ordered the tostada Siberia and enjoyed it. someone in our party had the bark fajita afteros, they were also good and the cheese chasadilla was also good. our party of 3 spent about 50 dlls including drinks and drinking. the only disappointment was to find out that they don't have live music on Saturday, live music is only on Friday. every Saturday they have a drag queen comedy show that starts at 11. I wasn't for the show."
