"Don't get your cake at The Great Dane. My wife and I ordered our wedding cake from The Great Dane and it was (quite literally one of the worst experiences of my life. First they have thin metal wires (in our cakes to fasten edible sugar flowers - after we paid them $80 extra to dip them individually hand (and attached to the cake with white chocolate). Secondly, after 3 wedding guests on the metal wires left (without knowing anyone in the wedding cake – including my bride who had hidden a metal wire in her neck and had to be hurried into the emergency room – The Great Danes denied with metal wires. When we told them that we had some cake left and could show them that they used metal wires, they told us that it was our fault not to take them away before they serve our guests – they did not even say they were sorry. Shocking – simply shocking – the staff in The Great Dane was actually rude to my wife (and literally hanged on her when she called to ask her why they used metal wires in our wedding cake after we paid them extra to fasten all edible sugar flowers with white chocolate. Accidents happen, and we are not inappropriate people, but if accidents happen, you would expect at least one excuse. But it is one year since our wedding day, and now (when they insult injuries, they refuse to our order for our 1 year anniversary cakes (which we paid for together with our wedding cake and was part of our original contract. It is hard to believe, but they literally refused to take our order on the phone, and said that to take our order, they would have to call us back – and, until today, (our repeated calls to try to place our order, they refused to call us back. When I suggested that they could refund only the part of the money we paid for the jubilee cake (because they refused to take our order, or call us back, they also hanged on me. Don't get me wrong, they're all sweet and smiling when they take your money, but once you've paid, the customer service goes straight out the window. Honestly, it is shocking for me that this facility has managed to stay in business, treat customers like they do. So please do yourself a favor and find another bakery. The staff of The Great Dane are simply not nice people, and while their baked goods can actually be quite daring to be delicious (as long as the metal wires do not kill you the terrible way that they treat their customers this makes a really terrible establishment to avoid at all costs. Fortunately, there are many very fine bakeries in Southern California – take my advice and avoid The Great Dane. I would not have taken the time to write this review if I had no really terrible experience in The Great Dane, and I just wish someone warned me that I used it to make our wedding cake. Hopefully, this review will prevent you from making the same mistake I made – avoid The Great Dane at all costs."
