"This restaurant has been in operation for over 20 years. There have been rave reviews but never had the opportunity to patronize this establishment. After the pandemic, this restaurant is still here which supports having a very loyal customer base. that 's good news. Recently though, i noticed those earlier rave reviews have been supplanted with several mediocre reviews. I was intrigued and wanted to see for myself. We arrived 30 minutes after their dinner service started. There was just one other occupied table and we were greeted with a few stares, no smiles, no welcoming gestures and seated in the back for our party of eight. Hmmm first impressions. Our wait staff was also not the most friendliness of individuals and appeared to have i don 't want to be here attitude, however she was not rude just not overly friendly or welcoming. We were expecting welcome, have you been to our restaurant before? Is this a special occasion? etc. especially just opening their dinner service...but nope. We were also given several bowls of focaccia bread w/an olive oil/balsamic mixture to start our meal, unfortunately their focaccia bread was a little dry as if the bread was sliced and cubed several hours earlier and not covered. Not a great start. When our wait staff returned, we asked if there was a daily special. She advised us that all their entrees are special. hmmm. But first, let 's start with the house salad very basicwith your usual dressings, house minestrone: use of fresh crunchy veggies with a thin tomato base ok, but i do prefer a thicker consistency and not sure it was worth the $1 up charge. now to the entrees that we ordered: 1) spaghetti carbonara the dish looked fantastic but our friend said it was just ok and took half his entree home2) chicken marsala chicken was moist and without the breading (perfect), it also had a very sweet flavor. It didn 't look/taste like a traditional marsala sauce with a brown rich umami earthly color and flavor it tasted more like a cream sauce with a sweet garlic flavor just different and not what i expected. I asked our wait staff if this was their version of a marsala sauce. she explained that they had made it incorrectly and what was served to me was correct...hmmmm3) lasagna probably the best item here. nice flavor, not salty, rich marinara sauce would order this item again4) veal picatta again just ok, the sauce didn 't really pop with the capers or lemon but was decent 5) bolognese entree our friend loved this gluten free entree and ate the entire dish6) several spaghetti with meatballs entrees again just ok. the meatballs possessed a unique texture and were cold. Not sure, but the meatballs seemed to be an after thought and not thoughtfully incorporated with this dish. But the noodles were properly cooked a plus. Why just three stars? The price point for these dishes should have garnered a better than average meal. Unfortunately, it did not. However, it wasn 't terrible, the food was just ok. But the service staff needed to be more friendly towards their customers. If we were in a fast food establishment, i would have expect lower expectations. Not here. i actually gave them 3 stars because one of chefs actually had a smile and thanked us for coming. yes, the Chef not the wait staff thanked us for coming."

"Yum yum yum!!!! I came here since I'd seen Pasta Sisters on Worth It (as I assume many do), and I'd like to say that it lives up to the hype! I ordered their special, which was a tomato based sauce with pancetta, and I got it with pappardelle. When I ordered it, the lady did warn me that it would be a bit salty, but I trusted that the thick pasta would balance it out, and I was right! The pappardelle was cooked to the perfect texture- it tasted so fresh and al dente, not too firm and not too mushy. Usually I get tired of a pasta dish halfway through because the taste gets old, but I enthusiastically finished my whole portion! It was just the right amount, I felt full for sure but not so full that I felt icky. I'd also been snacking throughout the whole day LOL so I surprised myself in being able to finish it actually, but it was just so delicious. While the bits of pancetta weren't super substantial, you can taste its richness from being cooked in the sauce, and the fattiness is cut well by the tomato's tang. I also tried a bite of my boyfriend's pasta- he got a cream sauce smoked salmon pasta, and the salmon pieces were quite good, but the flavors less punchy than my pancetta pasta. I also enjoyed the free bread and olive oil/vinegar they gave! We came on a Saturday evening during Memorial Day weekend and it actually wasn't crowded at all! We were able to place our order at the counter within 5 minutes (just the right amount of time to gaze indecisively at the menu LOL) and were seated right away. The outdoor seating is really comfortable- you choose your own table/are gently guided by some of the waitstaff, and the ambience is great. I'd never been to Culver City, and the neighborhood felt so cozy and artsy! Waiters/service were super friendly and helpful, though some things are kinda self serve which is nice and casual too."
