"I do not understand the good reviews for this restaurant. The food was not good. We ordered fried calamari and a stuffed artichoke. The fried calamari was edible but it was not very tender and the batter was tasteless. The sauce was also disappointing as marinara sauces go. It has no taste at all, no garlic or basil flavor it was very bland. The artichoke was a major disappointment. It was very undercooked so that there was hardly any part of the leaves that you could eat because they were not cooked. The stuffing could have been a consolation but there was very little of it and it was completely tasteless. Bread was finally brought to the table long after the appetizers were brought. The bread was Italian bread that was more like white bread. How can a restaurant on Arthur avenue not have delicious authentic Italian bread with all of the bakeries there?? I ordered eggplant parm for dinner. It was not terrible but I would not say it was delicious. It was very bland, and their sauce is very bland. There is no taste of any seasoning at all in their sauce. I also forgot to mention that I ordered the arugula salad which came with house dressing. It was a plate of arugula with a lot of shaved carrots on it and a few pieces of tomato. I cannot tell you what the house dressing is because there was virtually no dressing on the salad. I detected a small amount of oil but nothing else. I was imagining a good Italian style salad dressing as their house dressing. I used the oil and balsamic on the table to add to the salad. And why is the arugula covered in shaved carrots? Others at the table ordered the Caesar salad and there was almost no dressing on their salad either. The other entree was the braciola, which was tough and not cooked properly."

"We arrived at a very packed foyer for our 7 PM dinner reservations at 5 ‘till. After a 40-minute wait, the staff seated our party of six in a very loud dining room. Impastato’s had packed the tables as close together as possible to maximize the number of customers. I had to squeeze into my chair, which was hard up against the chair in the adjacent table. Throughout the night the wait staff had to reach across my face to serve the diner to my left. The table was not set but had printouts of their five course pre fixe. Eventually our waitress came by and said she’d be back with some utensils. After delivering those, she took our drink orders. Iced tea for me, water for the rest with a request for the wine list. I got my tea and the wine list arrived; no water arrived. Eventually the waitress came back and asked my friend if he had decided upon a wine. He ordered a bottle and reminded the waitress about providing water for the table. We finally got water and wine. The waitress came back to explain the menu. Although she was yelling, I could not understand her above the cacophony. Later she came back to my side of the table and said they were out of the crab claw appetizer or at least she thought they were. She said she would check with the kitchen. Later she returned to take our orders and clarified that they were out of Shrimp Au Gratin but had the crab claws. They were also out of softshell crab. They had other dinner selections that they were touting, which were apparently on another menu that they failed to provide. She brought out the wine and provided two dishes with pats of butter. Later she returned with some dinner rolls because she knew we were “starving.” Our first course, served about an hour after being seated, was a dollop of angel hair pasta with a red sauce and a dollop of fettucine alfredo. On the menu this was listed as the second course. When removing those dishes, the waitress made sure to place the used forks back on the table. Next, we were served some romaine lettuce with a light coating of Caesar salad dressing. And that was it. At 10:00 PM we left after having been served two courses of the five-course meal. A three hour wait for two dollops of pasta and a meager salad. They should change to name of the restaurant to Imposter’s."
