"My wife and I have made it a yearly tradition to visit Traverse City and dine at Aerie. This year, I had a gift card for the Resort that I intended to use for our dinner. Everything went smoothly until it was time to pay. When I presented my gift card, I was informed that the system was undergoing an update and would be operational within the next 24 to 48 hours. As a result, I had to unexpectedly spend over $300 on our meals. I suggested to our server that it would be beneficial to inform guests at the beginning of their dining experience about any potential issues that could affect them. She agreed and mentioned that the front desk host should be responsible for communicating such information. However, the host only seated us, and all our interactions were with our server. Since she was the one handling the payment, it would have been appropriate for her to inform us about the system update."
