"One shop that caught my attention is called "Safe Donuts." They offer all the classic options you'd expect from a donut shop. I tried a few of their donuts, and they were decent. However, for those unfamiliar with the place, there’s much more to explore beyond the donut selection. If you pass the donut display at the front, you’ll notice a narrow corner leading to the back where they have a section dedicated to steamed dishes. If you go early, you'll find a variety of Chinese brunch items available. They serve steamed noodles, chicken feet, small ribs, and a range of fluffy and baked goods. I sampled some steamed shrimp rice rolls for $10 (6 rolls) and I would give them 4 stars. They were surprisingly good, still chewy, and the wrap wasn’t overcooked. The accompanying sauce was tasty and complemented the rolls nicely. Next, I tried the siu mai for $10 a dozen and rated them 4 stars as well. They were large and juicy with a distinct flavor and a sweet note, though the wrapper was slightly dense. I also had the har gow, priced at $10 a dozen, but I didn’t enjoy them much, giving them 2.5 stars. They lacked garnish and had a texture similar to shrimp mousse, which didn’t appeal to me. The spicy wontons were $10 for a generous dozen, and I would rate them 3 stars. They surprised me because the dough was overpoweringly chive-flavored, which I wasn't particularly fond of. If I had known, I would have chosen differently. The hot oil they were floating in had an unsettling taste that didn’t sit well with me; I usually prefer a red chili oil for some heat. The vinegar accompanying them was a bit much for my taste—I was hoping for something simpler. They also have a separate menu featuring Burmese dishes, but I’m not sure when those are available. I’m definitely interested in trying those out. It’s remarkable how many different offerings they manage to showcase in such a small space. I’m eager to continue exploring this hidden gem, which feels like a thrilling adventure waiting to unfold!"
