"Max and Benny's was our go-to for delicious corned beef and Ruben sandwiches with their crispy thin fries. They also served very tasty buns that came to the table immediately...about 4 buns for the 2 of us. Unfortunately, things have greatly changed. The corned beef was cold, dry and had no flavor. It used to be served quite warm with a robust garlic flavor. The bread on the Ruben was sliced extremely thin, again the corned beef was dry and tasteless with some tough parts. There was hardly any Sauerkraut. Their thin fries were excellent untill they changed to the ubiquitous fries you get at many chain restaurants. All in all a great disappointment to what used to be the best deli for corned beef and everything Jewish.. So sad that it's changed."

"Smallish store, with limited selections. Well known, but actually is overpriced. Basically, it's good to get gifts at, but not really a viable to shop for routine food needs. Has high degree of treats vs. lunch/dinners."

"Our dinner was outstanding--food and service. We had made an early reservation and were seated in the the least noisy place in the restaurant which helped. Our server asked if we were attending a performance and made certain he accomodated that time frame. If there were a way to tone down the noise and still retain the ambience mit would be ideal. I had a fabulous duck entree and my companion had osso buco. We were very happy with the entrees and the accompaniments!"

"The best place I’ve eaten since moving to Hampton Roads! Everything is local, fresh, and hand made. Everyone I went with had something different and everything was amazing! The freshly baked bread, the entrees, and the made in-house desserts were all scrumptious! We just may get addicted to the food here! Can’t wait to go back and trying something else!"
