"I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. The dishes are from southern Mexico and very different from what you might expect. The tamales are their specialty and for good reason. Wrapped in banana leaf, as southern Mexico does it, they are moist and flavorsome. The masa was absolutely superb and smooth. In talking with the owner/chef, we met a man passionate about his food and determined to get it right before it goes on the menu. This place will be known, I have no doubt."

"I have been living in California for 18 years, with my husband on weekends we go to different areas and Los Altos is one of my favorites. We had lunch and stayed for coffee. Yesterday we tried this colorful place: The interior is very warm, there is order, the guys from the staff are very attentive and professional. I ordered chips and salsa and two salads and we sat outside on the wide terrace on the street to wait for the order, when I went to get it, what a pleasant surprise: the salads are huge, also delicious. It has many tables with umbrellas, the wifi is powerful and reaches well outside, by the way the key is Burritos =D the atmosphere was calm and the service was fast. It opens at 9:30 a.m. every day and from Sunday to Wednesday it closes at 8:00 a.m. Thursday to Saturday it closes at 8:30 p.m. Surely on my next visit to Los Altos I will return to this place. I highly recommend it. Update: Today we went for the second time for another great lunch with my husband, there were quite a few people in the line before me, finally a very nice guy took my order Lulu chopped Salad al Pastor and Beef Taquitos he told me that it would be ready in 10 minutes. As it was a short time I stayed inside the place and noticed that he took orders by phone too and they accumulated until there were so many that the delivery of our lunch took almost 40 minutes. It's a shame because the food is very tasty."

"I really want to love this place, but I have never had great service there. Location is excellent, nice views of the river and a wooden, cozy vibe. Food can be hit or miss depending on what you order."

"The chili Chile Relleno Plate was okay. It was a big portions, the sauce was flavorful but slightly watery. The chili relleno was crunchy, undercooked a little. The chips had no salt on them and was a little bland for my taste. Wasn't the worst place but wasn't the best either, it was just so so."

"I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this restaurant. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the place to go! Everything was fantastic. I ordered the enchiladas tricolor, and they were absolutely delicious! My friend got the fried steak and chicken tortilla soup, both of which were great. The service was quick, and the food was even better. I would definitely love to explore more of the menu on my next visit!"

"Friendly staff, quick service for just going it seems. I'm going to good tacos and drinks. BUT, food is unfortunately another experience. I took my family in the day I uploaded this review... So this is a new edited version. Not the record of a person came out right. The server did not repeat my order and my drinks never filled up again. Forget the rest of the food and our food became cold and evil. Didn't know I went to a fast food chain where I had to go to the counter for everything I needed. DISSAPOINTED:"

"The food is delicious. Taco de tripas doradas, las enchiladas, los chilaquiles, picadillo. Its not greasy, excellent food in my opinion. Unfortunately, we stopped going for a few reasons:1) they’re now including the tip in the check which, OK, not bad except its led to #2…2) poor service. Now it doesnt matter apparently what kind of service you get, theyre getting tipped. So the last 3 times weve gone, weve had to wait 40 m 1 h for our food, the waitresses dont seem to notice us, or follow up, they take a long time to get our drinks, our order. They seem more disinterested.3) They charge you $2 I believe for the to go cups. Twice I never asked for it but they gave it to me anyways. I once ordered a bean and bacon, bean and cheese and 1 unsweet tea and it came out to $8. Doesnt sound much, but when the whole family goes, its been close to $50 with just 2 tacos per person.Ill give it a break, maybe Ill go back in a few. The food really is delicious and Ive yet to find a better taco house in the area, i do miss it ?"

"Every time I come here I have a great experience. It’s always busy here and it’s for a good reason! The food is good and they are fast considering how busy they get during the dinner rush! Sierra was my waitress tonight and she was awesome! She let me know about the drink specials today (Wednesday) so I was happy to save some money especially after the holidays. The food was delicious as always! It was my friends first time here and they loved it too!"

"the bad: I don't like being able to be skilled, and it felt like this. If they marketed daily on their website, they should probably know what they are. after the waitress had asked for the special, the waitress said: what special. I told her it was on si senor’s website. she said it's not a big thing, they're saving only $1.75 what anyway! So they knew about the special; they knew exactly what their customer would save, and then it was as if they didn't know it? Of course to say I never received the discount anyway; I was charged full price. they gave us chips and salsa immediately. like 99% of the other Mexican restaurants, we assumed they were customer service. when my daughter asked more, we asked if we could get a refill. Of course we could; she neglected us just a refill of the free chips salsa ' was an additional $5 it is not about the cost, but about the main thing and genuineness as they come from and you came dishonestly. throughout the service we started with a waitress [which acted rather rudely], then halfway through, we were turned on a completely different waitress strangely. the good: cool place and atmosphere, and absolutely fantastic pina colada’s! Unfortunately, you're vaccinated on the alcohol. it tasted more like a sundae."

"I wish that I would of read reviews before coming inside to eat here. Kiddos and I were hungry and I made the decision to stop at a new place instead of up the ways at our usual spot. These corn tortillas were looking raw or just nasty when given to us. The beans and rice look reheated and disgusting. My son told me his meat looked old and it did. The waiter spoke to me like I don't know what mexican food is. I'm Mexican American hun, I know what the difference between corn and flour tortillas are. This service and visit was just trash. We should have went to Taqueria Tapatio in New Braunfels they've NEVER let us down Wait until I speak to the manager to see what he says about his employee charging extra to put meat in beef enchiladas Then comes with different receipt with 2 different totals and look how many times she charged for paying supposedly with credit card"
