"To start things off, the breakfast burritos are good. The reason I’m writing a negative review is because of the cashier. There’s two of them but the younger taller well-rounded girl is quite rude. I usually go in there for breakfast burritos. I’ve been attended by her 3 times and each time I’ve gone to pick up my order she basically throws it on the counter I can hear it hit the counter. Its a heavy burrito. It’s almost as if she’s throwing me food like a dog. She either needs training on how to handle food and customers or she needs to be replaced. The other cashier that works there doesn’t do that to my food. I’m about to eat this food that I purchased from your amazing restaurant, It’s a pet peeve when I see people treating my food that way. Why do I want to keep coming back and being treated the same way. Even though the food outweighs the service I don’t like being treated that way and I know one person not going to the restaurant is not going to make a difference but hopefully this review will be brought to the owners attention how she’s treating her customers or possibly just me I have no idea. As much as I want to keep spending my hard earned money on their delicious food, today’s the last burrito I’ve ever buy from them thanks to her unprofessionalism."

"First time here with my young family and the food was OK. We got the Buffalo Wings (which are not spicy, I was expecting some spicy) and I don't recommend getting them. Hardly any meat on them. Mostly fat and the breaded coated around them. Definitely not getting them ever again. The Philly Cheese steak was alright. I was hoping it was going to be great but it wasn't. I don't recommend. Now, what really was a lot better than the wings and the Philly Cheese Steak were, Eggs Benedict, County Fried Steak and Eggs, French toast combo and Chicken Parmigiana were pretty good. The only staff we encountered was Angie and she was so amazing! Seriously, wow!!!! She was so nice and welcoming and friendly. "I've been here 2 times and the first time the food was really good. But the second time, I got taquitos and they were not good at all. Tasted like they were frozen before and then thrown in the microwave. They were chewey, or maybe stale is a better word. The chicken was dry and unseasoned. And to top it off, it gave me serious acid reflux. (Which is my issue, nothing to do with the restaurant) I'm hoping they just had an off night, cause the service was excellent."

"Went hoping for real authentic Mexican food but left pretty disappointed. The chicken tasted like it was overly seasoned with onion powder and no other flavors came out. Had enchiladas, beans, and rice. One enchilada tasted like it was covered in alfredo sauce, green sauce didn’t really have a lot of green chili flavor and chipotle red sauce wasn’t great either. Overall, everything we had just lacked flavor. The salsa was really good and had a kick. The margarita’s were good though."

"Great accidental find we were doing the unofficial Selena tour around Corpus seeking out the famous places she'd been and where they filmed the movie. Then we were hungry for some TexMex El Jalisco got a good yelp rating so we headed over and it hit the spot! I really wanted to try something off of their drink menu, but we were just there for food. The chorizo fries were so delicious. I was in the mood for a basic quesadilla, but it was seasoned very well and the guac and set up were great. Would definitely go back if I found myself in that area again."

"This is one of my favorite places to eat and has been here since it was opened 14 years ago. If you're looking for the typical TexMex fair of Enchiladas, Burritos and Tacos, they'll make some of the best I've ever had. But you really need to try some of the other dishes they offer. The Pork Chop Plate is one of my favorites along with the Chicken Breast Steak (smothered in Monterey Jack...hope hunger because it is a lot of food). If you want something spicy, try the steak a la Mexicana... the cook will light you up. Excellent food breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices that cannot be beaten. Staff who feel like family."

"I came in on a Sunday at 130 pm. They close at 230pm. There were 5 tables that were dirty the entire time we were there. They were still dirty when we left. They ran out of rice. The meal was average. It’s why I rated it a 3."

"Patty and her catering crew prepared the food for my annual 4th of July Annual family picnic and set up as well as tore down the meal setup at my home. My wife and I were totally delighted with the taste, quantity and quality of all the food. The price was extremely reasonable. Chef Tom did an outstanding job. My guest were absolutely delighted with the food and complimented spread. No doubt Patty and Tom will be doing my Holiday catering from now and onward. Thank you Chaparritas for an outstanding job. "Avila's is a cozy restaurant with some authentic Mexican and tex mex dishes. If it's your first time you'll want to pay attention because it's so easy to pass. Parking is located between the restaurant and the auto shop next door. Food was good. Ienjoyed the shrimp fajitas and my partner had the chicken gordita which they enjoyed. "Never been disappointed. Good quality, authentic Mexican food. I would recommend the chilaquiles. A wide variety of seafood as well. Service has always been good. I was there with a large party and didn't realize they included a gratuity. I signed for my usual 20%. Later looked at my receipts and bank account only to find they did not charge me for the second tip."
