"My boyfriend and I dined at the Pier last week. We sat at the bar and although it was not busy it took the bartender a few minutes to acknowledge us. I ordered a key lime pie martini, which I have ordered there before, and the bartender didn’t know how to make it – which is fine but he seemed irritated that anyone would order something he was unfamiliar with. However, once the drink was made it was very good. As for the food, my boyfriend ordered the iceberg wedge and I ordered the scallop appetizer $12). When the food arrived the iceberg wedge was fresh, was nicely drizzled with salad dressing and my boyfriend enjoyed eating it as well. That was not the case when it came to my dish. My plate consisted of two sea scallops atop 4 or 5 puny fingerling potatoes. I was insulted, to say the least. I pay $15 a pound for fresh sea scallops at my local fish market and although I understand that the restaurant, of course, has to make a profit but charging $6 a scallop is just ludicrous. When we tried to talk to the bartender about the incredibly small portion size he was indignant and stated that we weren’t getting ripped off. Whatever happened to the customer always be right? There are plenty of restaurants on Aquidneck Island so I don’t ever have to eat there again."
