"We had been to Maxwells 148 with the original owners/chef. Great at first, then only ok. Had not returned for many years, but a friend told us to try again with new owners/chef. We went for a birthday dinner. The service is great, drinks very good, tuna tartare appetizer is awesome! My husband ordered the Osso Bucco which was very tender, but not cut in the classic way and no gremolatta in the hollowed bone. I ordered the lobster gnocchi which was so rich it was hard to eat much of it (serving size huge!!! . It really needed acid to cut through the richness. We would have been willing to give it another try, but the disappointing food combined with the very loud dining room will make us give Maxwells 148 a pass next time we go out for dinner."
