"Jalao is a great place to visit if you 're in the Washington Heights area. There aren 't that many places to choose from that has a decent service, a good ambiance and interesting food combined with fine dining. Now, I would have loved to give this place 5 stars, but I 'm giving it 3.5 stars as there were some miscommunications during my experience. Starting that unfortunately on the day of my visit their coffee machine had broken and they had to brew our coffee on the hotel side. It took them forever to get us our coffee and when it finally arrived it was terrible in taste. There were also serious mistakes with our food: I ordered the Yucca Frittata , but there was no Yucca on my plate. It tasted good, but it seemed to me more like a Spanish Tortilla than a frittata. My friend ordered the 3 Golpes and although it was delicious the mangú tasted like guineitos rather than plátanos. My other friend ordered their French Toast and it was soggy in the center. Seemed a bit undercooked. We also ordered as an appetizer the Bombones de Yuca which were delicious and I recommend 100%, but unfortunately our waitress forgot to put it in the system and we had it at the end of our meals. Given all the issues we had our waitress sent over the manager who was very corteous and offered us the dessert on the house. We had the 5 Leches Dominicana which was very good. Other than that this the place is very cute, clean, pleasant ambiance and worth visiting if you 're in Washington Heights."
