"Sunday night was a quiet night, not packed, so noise level was low. The food was all excellent. Service was super, but as noted, not overly crowded. The staff was all friendly attentive, knowledgeable, so I suspect service is always good. Ingredients were all fresh and high quality. Preparation perfect, mussels cooked just right. Definite return to this site."

"Used to be one of my fav place to go many years ago when living in NYC in this neighborhood. So I wanted to go back while visiting NYC … the place still has the cozy atmosphere and the great frites (within other good dishes of course like the onion soup I tried last night) There where at the time I think red/white checkered table cloths but I maybe wrong. Friendly staff. French baguette now is something you order as a side dish served with butter and an excellent jam. It was a nice and pleasant jump in the past."

"We booked this on the basis of the 4+ star OoenTable reviews. Food was good and tasty burrata, mushroom croquettes, patatas bravas, quinoa salad, and roasted brussel sprouts. Tapas can be pricy and these with a glass of wine topped $120 for two. Suggested tips on the bill were in the range 20 30%. Odd seating plan the front was almost deserted while the back was noisy. They forgot two of the tapas for over 30 minutes."

"Excellent service, the server actually took the time to read the request my husband put in when we reserved that we prefer alcohol-free drinks and halal meat. So the server helped us choose the best for our preferences. They have halal steak on theirmenu, and authentic wagu steak from Australia. Also they gave us a complimentary banana flavored cotton candy with our dessertfor our anniversary that small touch really made the whole experience special."

"the edge harlem is one of my favorite brunch spots. I rank it in my top 5 places for quality food, portion size and service to go. pfancake with fresh fruit cream is a great brunch choice, with sides of speck and eggs! it is the perfect breakfast. when ordering drinks, I recommend the 580, served in large glasses and made strong! a few of them have very nice. make sure to come to the restaurant early because waiting times can be up to an hour during the brunch. it is a tiny space that fills up quickly, but the personal makes a great job management table waiting times. I can't wait to eat again for more delicious."

"made a reservation for dinner on a saturday evening. the place is very small inside, but very nice. we ordered the strawberry fields, the aracini (that day it was spinach and cheese), the gnocchi, and the eggplant pasta. the drink was OK (a little small and not amazing for $15), but all the food was delicious especially the gnocchi. four stars because they did not bring us the complimentary bread (that every other table had) until we asked, and even then, it was only a packet of bread and not the included dip."

"I really feel bad about this review because the food was very good and the restaurant was picturesque and comfortable. What ruined the evening was the terrible service. My proposal to the owner who really works very hard as she could be seen to keep things smooth is to rent older experienced servers. Most of my tables ate the grouper special, which was excellent as the salads. We had to ask for things 2 or 3 times. Get out of jelly for the muffins. There were too few muffins for 4 people. The server has never checked with our table to see if we want refills on our drinks or if we need anything. We were just forgotten. My salad was brought without the dressing. I had to order another server to get it for me. The coffees were brought without the creamer. We had to wait until the coffees got cold before we add Rahmer! The courts were not brought out at the same time. What a serving nightmare. One of the waiters told my friend that he would bring her a box so that she could wrap the remains. He never came back. Another young man took her court and put her back in order to pack herself. The problem I see is that there are too many people trying to help a table without organization. Maybe a server should pay attention to fewer tables. You should definitely be better trained. It was just not professional!"

"I realllllly wanted to like this place. The photos and reviews all represent this place so highly. It just fell flat for us. Went w a friend for dinner on a Friday after work. We split a crab cake burger and a the Maggie burger. The crab cake was definitely better than burger. The burger and fries just weren’t well seasoned. The bar is beautiful but I’m not sure I would come back."

"We have found the Independent to be the perfect Happy Hour, Preplay dinner, and postplay food and drinks. The beautiful woodwork and photos create a terrific atmosphere. Last year we went there three times in a seven day period and this year twice in a four day visit. There are lots of choices in NYC, but this is our favorite. The food was amazing along with terrific service. Last Tuesday we did not realize we should have made a reservation, but they managed to find us a table for our preplay dinner. "came to my last day in south beach and frankly I would have been better to go after dieucks. the service (as many restaurants in the environment) was almost unavailable and simply lacked. the coffee tasted burned, there was not enough to see or sugar to help him. each on the table ordered the huevos rancheros and between it no kind of seasoned, the raw tortilla, and over all tastes of it all prepacked, please avoid this place."
