"I had never heard of ruth until my daughter bought a gift card for my wife and I bought. she sent a $150 card that deserts our meal and an additional to bring home. I was a bit skeptical when I discovered it was a chain restaurant, but was hopeful. all I can say is that I am glad I didn't have to pay for the meal. eating was at best mediocre. I had a ribey and kartoffel. the steak was cooked as ordered and was in order. I'm still not sure if they weren't ready. very inspiring meal. my wife had a filet and she likes her flesh well done, so it is not surprising that her steak was not very tender. but she had filets on other places that were amazing, also well cooked. I will not waste time on eating. ridicully overpriced. we ate in the bar because the dining room had only one server that was overwhelmed with some tables. that is, it turned out that it is a completely quiet environment for both of us with a eckish and only a few other people in the bar. and the barkeeper was on the point with service and very friendly. the young man who brought our food made me almost loud when he tried to find out how to pick up the hot plates from the servier floor with a cloth serviette. he looked like he never served. Maybe he didn't. all in all, $180 for two including tipp had scratched my head and wondering why someone would go back there. remember, it was quite empty. I just thought it was because it was a Wednesday night, and it was a fairy tale."

"My husband and I recently visited for our Anniversary. The first 15 minutes was magical, however the experience went down hill quickly (sadly). Quick Summary: Our appetizer was so fresh and yummy. Our Steaks weren't the greatest at all. One was pretty much burnt all around the edges. Still on the juicy side but still the flavor was nearly ruined.‍ We got many sides, not knowing they were large portions. The Brussels were great. The fries pretty good. The mashed potatoes awful and no flavor. I can't remember the wine I had with my meal, because they were out of my original pick. It was very nice and balanced with the meal. With all of the food aside, my service was truly hit or miss. Our waitress assistant was amazing and helpful, however we hardly saw them. The waitress herself was so short and avoided answering questions, or just didn't know much. She also pushed us along. She wanted to bring the check and didn't ask about dessert when we were eating our meal. When I said we wanted dessert she seemed nearly annoyed. Mumbled a few options. I asked for a drink to go with dessert and was ignored/over talked. My husband stood up and walked over to reiterate/correct it. The chocolate torte was rich and sweet. Paired well with the sparkling wine. The dessert was a much smaller portion compared to the sides. Overall I was let down for such a special night. Not sure I'd ever drop that much money again for such short service. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Chocolate Tart"

"Bijoux is a truly fabulous restaurant we try to experience each time we visit the area. We’ve never had anything other than fantastic food and service. Six adults dined last night on a reservation I made through Open Table a week ago. I was shocked to hear from the Bijoux hostess there was no reservation for at under my name. After a few moments it was determined our reservation had indeed been made by me, and put under another name. Not my fault, not Bijoux’s fault. Things happen. We were seated and experienced another outstanding meal with spot-on service from the wait staff. My issue is with the tall-ish, blond-ish hostess, in age, who demonstrated an arrogant, condescending manner toward myself and my party that was unnecessary. Upon approaching her hostess stand, we were not greeted with a welcome, nor a smile, nor an hello. Instead, a curt, rushed, “can I help you?” (while her eyes remained on her reservation list) met us on arrival. Her next response, after giving her our name and reservation time, was “there is no reservation for you”. She did not give an indication of caring whether there was some type of problem. There was no graciousness or concern on this woman’s part, and never a smile. Once I showed the message confirmation for our reservation on my phone, and she found us on her list using my phone number, she inferred I caused the error by placing a name other than my own with my reservation. Certainly she knew better, but I was instructed by her to “get that fixed”. Amazingly, as soon as she realized our party most definitely had a reservation for at and that we were now her guests, her demeanor improved only slightly. Surely, this is not the individual you want greeting your guests. Sadly, it appeared she had a young lady in training by her side. Earlier, a hostess at Cafe with guests on the books, bent over backwards for us. It was neither asked for nor expected. It’s called gracious service."

"attractive restaurant in good location with beautiful view of the city and attractive decor on the inside. eating was good, but not excellent. I expected more from a rick erwin restaurant. I have the fried green tomaten (very good), the oysters (very disappointing, very small) and the calamari (good, but very average, nothing unique, they find the same at every average price seafood restaurant). I had surfing and shaking with mushrooms. the nativity was excellent. the firma crabcake was very good. the mushrooms were very good. I had a double whisky neat basil hayden and a smoked whisky mad. both were excellent, but the presentation for the smoked whisky was disappointing because their smoke machine was broken. the service was disappointing. I did not feel that the server knew the menu well and there were no recommendations or suggestions. she was pleasant, but clearly overworked. I think she was one of two servers in a busy restaurant on a Saturday night. the food lasted much too long to be served, and they were trying a little low what the food sat for some time after preparation. we spent three hours there without dessert because of the time of food. we still enjoyed it because we were with good friends and the ambiente was good, but I wouldn't take anyone there if I was eating to impress. our tip was $500 for four people. that's good for a rick erwin restaurant, but I didn't feel that I got the rick erwin experience for the money I spent. we could go back in the early year to experience the terrace. I felt this was a decent experience for spartanburg, but not for greenville. we had a bottle of wine in bo d street wines before we went to level 10 and that was a good experience."
