"Looking for lunch on a Sunday, we tried Kate 's for the first time. Weather was perfect so we sat outside on the back patio, which was dominated by a giant smoker from some earlier period of that location. The menu, while not large, offered plenty ofappealing choices. Being Sunday, the brunch menu added more interesting options. The wife kept it simple with Rosie 's chickensalad sandwich. Simple but good! The nine grain bread was fresh and toasted just right, the chicken salad fresh and full offlavor. But the show stopper was the brunch shrimp and grits. The waitperson described them as 'Southwestern Style Shrimpand Grits '. That turned out to be a good description. The dish was spicy enough to get your attention, but not overwhelming. The Gulf shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. The balance of spices, base, cheddar grits, bacon and other ingredients wasperfect. Overall, every bit as good as any shrimp&grits I 've had in New Orleans. Bottom line; Kate 's was laid back andfriendly, the patio modest, but the food was the star of the show. We 're already looking forward to our next visit."
