"Irvington is known for its fine dining options and picturesque view of the Hudson River, as well as it's nonsensical rotation of pizzerias. At one point, there were four within a single block. It was mayhem. Now, only two remain, Tony's and the newly opened Slice Shop. I'll start off by saying the pizza is exceptional. I think this is the best pizza Irvington has possibly ever had. Romeo's was legendary for its size, more than its quality. Irvington Pizzeria (at this same location was great for its environment, but not its mastery of form. Tony's is great for his impeccable service and generosity. Slice Shop, though, has incredibly fresh ingredients and is really delivering the goods. Unfortunately, you pay the price for it. I've been several times and always find I have paid $9-10 for two slices. Wha?! That is a baffling price point in comparison to classic New York pizza. This is a location across from a school, what 10 year old is about to drop $10 on pizza? Their specialty slices are priced higher, but are smaller and some have the same ingredients (why is a regular pepperoni slice one price and a smaller, square pepperoni slice more expensive? I wish Slice Shop could be a place I drop in regularly, but with this cost it's not practical. The environment is cool, well designed, and the sort of artisan pizza place Irvington needed. As it becomes a noted suburban food hub, Slice Shop's placement makes sense, but for everyday pizza it's pricing people out."
