"It hurts to say, but this was the most REGRETTABLE food experiences I 've had. My family is against letting food go to waste if no one wants it, at least let our dog or cats have it but we ended up throwing out all the sides to the trash. Sometimes food is okay, could 've been better or just not your cup of tea, but this was downright horrendous and a waste of nearly $85. Just go to Popeye 's instead. I 'm not sure who I 'm more disappointed with: those who prepared the food or everyone that 's been giving this place four and five star reviews. We got fried chicken, shrimp jambalaya, chicken creole, chicken sandwiches, and sides (potato salad, toast, yams, greens, and clam chowder). I enjoy trying new cuisines here in the Valley, but I will not ever come back here even if the food was on the house and here 's why. First of all, we waited inside nearly 40 minutes for our food. While you look around at the Mardi Gras beads on the chairs and decorations on the shelves, t 's hard to not notice the stained floors. The linoleum has probably been like that for a long time, despite how many times they mop, but it certainly makes you wonder what condition the kitchen is in. So what right I thought. A lot of buildings in the valley haven 't been renovated for decades. Plus, its expensive and restaurants have overhead and staff to pay. At the end of the day we came for the food right? Now, the food itself was horrible. If I could describe it with a meme, it 'd be the middle aged white guy saying You 're not that guy pal. Trust me, you 're not that guy. My mom described the fried chicken as lacking seasoning, smelling funky, and tasting like it was fried in oil that had not been changed in a long time. My sister, who had a fried chicken sandwich, also said it tasted like old oil instead of the spicy Creole seasoning it is described as. My brother and I had the Chicken creole and shrimp jambalaya, respectively. It was reminiscent of middle school forcing myself to eat the cafeteria food cause I forgot my lunch at home. Worst of all were the sides (seen in the pictures above). The potato salad? Tasted like mayonnaise flavored whipped cream. The clam chowder? Gerber with specks of clam. The yams? Mush in a light watery cinnamon and sugar syrup. The greens? Salty, bitter, with the stems still on. Even the toast was bad: it tasted like the crumbs at the bottom of the toaster that haven 't been tossed out in a week. We were gonna get mac n cheese instead of yams, but our server said it was not great today, so if this was the best they had to offer....yikes. For a soul food restaurant, the food here has no soul. At best, its mediocre. At worst, just don 't come here in the first place. The food did not taste fresh and lacked flavor. For as long as we waited, you would expect the line to be out the door but it wasn 't. Seriously, waste of time and money."

"We arrived around 11pm when the bar was not that busy, yet it took an hour to get our food. We also received it after others that had arrived after us. The table next to us had the same problems. They had 2 bartenders, 1 server, 1 manager. The server was doing her best trying to work an entire spaced room on her own because the manager spent most of his time helping the bar instead of the server when they shouldn’t have needed the help. By the time the manager started helping the server, it was too late because she was already deep in trouble and struggling. The bartenders had tunnel vision. I watched one guy sit there waiting to order drinks for a while and neither looked at him or acknowledged him because they kept their heads down. There was a point the server had 2 plates and went around the whole room not knowing who it belonged to. Once we finally received our food, it wasn’t worth the price. I got a brisket sandwich and all I could taste was bbq sauce not the meat at all. It wasn’t hot, warm at best like it’d been sitting. The server didn’t even know if it was correct “I think this is it” (the brisket sandwich). The table next to us sent one dish back once due to an issue. After finishing we again sat waiting for our check as the staff ran around not acknowledging any of us. I could tell the table next to me was annoyed too. It was clear the manager was not running the floor, it was running him. If they were busy (they really weren’t), instead of focusing on dishes left on tables (since they’d already closed the area to new guests), they should’ve noticed people like us sitting there looking bored and annoyed and dealt with us live guests first. The manager had tunnel vision. Management is about stopping fires before they happen. When we were finally able to stop the manager to finally ask get our check, he was rude. It’s not good service to tell the customer, look just be patient because we’re trying. Based on what I observed, they shouldn’t have been struggling as bad as they were. He didn’t know he was speaking to a former restaurant manager who’s run a busier restaurant than what I saw tonight with 3 servers, me, and the cook staff without looking like our heads were chopped off. I’d be worried what they’d be like if the place was packed. We won’t be back to this place."

"Early in the day we tried booking a reservation online but they were already booked for the night! We took our chances and went anyway to see how long we would have to wait until we were seated. We ended up waiting half an hour which was pretty reasonable considering how packed the place was! <br/ <br/ Although there is definitely an urban vibe to Angeline’s it is also incredibly warm and comfortable. Despite being busy we could still hear each other speak despite the crowd.<br/ <br/ The sparkling strawberry lemonade was absolutely worth the $4! So delicious. My sister's root beer was also very good. We ordered the hush puppies with honey butter to share between us, as well as the Grilled Boudin traditional Cajun pork with rice sausage and Creole mustard and arugula. The sausage was delicious and quite spicy but those hush puppies? My word they were outstanding! Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy but with that cornmeal bite in the centre and the honey butter oozing on top. Divine! A great way to start.<br/ <br/ I finally had my first Po’Boy and it came with a spicy potato salad. I got the shrimp Po’Boy and asked for them to hold the hot sauce but keep the Creole mustard and it worked perfect. The shrimp were super crispy and the overall sandwich absolutely delicious and quite filling.<br/ <br/ My sisters both ordered the buttermilk fried chicken with ginger-vanilla sweet potato mash, tasso ham cream gravy and Blue Lake green beans with parmesan. I had considered getting it as well but I was worried the sweet potato mash would be too sweet for me. One shared her fried chicken with me and it was perfection and that mash? Delicious. Justin was in heaven with his meat fest the Cajun Mixed Grill. Everything was so good.<br/ <br/ I was a little nervous about going to Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen because I thought the food would be too spicy for me but man, am I ever glad we went. They accommodated my lack of spice tolerance (although I think I did quite well with the Creole mustard) and the food was absolutely fantastic.<br/ <br/ This place is definitely worth the wait. Warm and cozy atmosphere, comfort food that will heal the soul and even the soft drinks are divine."
