"The good: Decor good by Indian restaurant standards, if somewhat minimalist. Licensed, although at this stage no actual wine or liquor list. Food ordered medium spice was prepared correctly. Appetizers (vegetable samosas, vegetable pakoras) were very good, but sadly much fresher and tastier than the main courses. The bad: Menu a little limited compared to typical Indian restaurants, with six or seven curry preparations to choose from, and within those preparations you choose from the same add-on ingredients (Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Shrimp or vegetarian). In of itself not a big negative (although the lack of any Saag dishes disappointed me), but while the lamb (in two of our main course choices) was ok, the chicken in my vindaloo was dry and tough, either over cooked or more likely pre-cooked and allowed to dry out. Generally the idea of a narrow, simplified menu is to be able to prepare that smaller range of ingredients fresher.. Portion size was fine, although the side dishes of rice were on the small side. Service was very slow.. This I'm actually prepared to overlook given that the restaurant is relatively new, but if I revisit I'll be looking for improvements here. As it was, everything took a long time, food wasn't terribly warm by the time it got to the table, and it took twenty minutes to get the bill at the end (and it had errors). Other restaurants have had teething problems I with service in their early days, so I'll cut slack here. So on balance a discouraging start to this new restaurant. The appetizers were good enough perhaps to warrant another visit at some stage, but without some major improvements in their food quality and service I don't expect to see Karma thrive."
