"I stopped by Mezcal's last Sunday for lunch after an appointment in the neighborhood. I was immediately drawn to the quirky, vibrant decor and was happy to find out that I arrived just in time for Happy Hour. My frozen blood orange margarita was delicious and gave me a nice buzz. The glass it came in was adorable, shaped like a cactus stem. The stuffed jalapeño peppers appetizer with shrimp, sour cream, and cheese was filling and served piping hot, but lacked flavor. The excessive amount of gooey cheese overwhelmed the dish. I decided to take my taco salad with chicken to go, but was disappointed with the ingredients. I had hoped for dark lettuce, sliced chicken, jalapeños, cheese and guacamole, but instead received a bowl with shredded chicken, bland beans, pale iceberg lettuce, dull tomatoes, peppers, onions, and a lackluster guacamole and sour cream topping. Overall, I was unsatisfied with my meal. If I were to return to Mezcal's, it would only be for a quick Happy Hour drink and the complimentary nachos and salsa, which I wasn't informed about during my visit."
