"I ordered a white wine that I've often had, assuming it was still part of the 2-for-1 deal. When I questioned the new bartender about the full price, the new manager quickly approached me, insisting I was mistaken and that it hadn't been a 2-for-1 item. He argued that he didn’t recognize me as a regular and that only three specific brands listed on the menu qualified for the deal. I typically don't even know the wines by brand name!
He then asked a bartender who had just started her shift about the pricing, and she reminded him that the 2-for-1 deal had indeed been available before. After that, he left, and I was later informed that he intended to apologize to me, but he never came back.
To clarify, I visit the restaurant about twice a week with friends, where we sit, drink, and usually enjoy a meal. Sometimes, like on the first day of spring, our total bill for dinner, drinks, and tip exceeds $100. Typically, we spend between $24 and $36 on our regular visits. It's worth mentioning that this same manager greeted us in a friendly manner during our visit about a month ago and encouraged us to come back.
What is going on with this guy? We could easily head to Chili's up the street, where they offer 2-for-1 deals with even better conditions. We truly enjoy the people in the bar area, and as a retired manager of a sizable operation, I would go out of my way to keep customers like us who contribute around $2,000 a year to the business.
