"that was our first experience in this restaurant. we enjoy teriyaki dinners in Japanese restaurants, but the bark and salmon were warm, far from the shlittel on a dish and with warm jarred soy sauce drowned. never order teriyaki dinner or combed deep fried calamari in this restaurant. we complained to the manager that no one came to our table to ask how everything was. I wanted to send the food back, but my husband was so hungry that he ate our dinner and didn't want to wait. we were told by the manager that sushi is her specificity and the items we ordered were clearly not. they gave a balance to our dissatisfaction. I recommended taking this item from their menu. very disappointed!"

"Let me start by saying the only reason this place doesn't get a five star is because of the wait. In fairness my friend and I were there on valentines day so we had extreme patience with the servers. I had a reservation for 2 and when we arrived they tried to seat us at the bar (on Valentine's Day! . No bueno. We said we would wait for a table, that took about 15 minutes but it was well worth the wait. Once we were seated it took about 25 minutes or so for the waitress to come get our orders. We had prepared in advance and ordered all courses in that first round so that the food could just steadily come out. We had the ginger salad, the dressing was one of the best I have ever had. Next we shared the Sweet and Sour Soup, it was absolutely delicious, lots of flavors and textures and had a bite! Our appetizers were both sushi and we found them to be excellent and fresh. For Entree's I had the filet which I found to be one of the BEST I have ever had in my life. I brought some home and I was able to cut it with a plastic knife the next day after warming it up! My friend got the Tempura which was also delicious. The sauces were all spectacular as were the roasted vegetables. My only complaint was A. our reserved table wasn't ready and B. The time it took to get through the meal. While we enjoyed our evening it was a 2 hour and 15 minute meal. I feel like 1 hour and 45 minutes MAXIMUM for our courses would have felt more comfortable. Generally speaking we loved it and we will be going back again!"

"I took my wife out for dinner at Montira Restarant located in Glenview at the Glen. The customer service was very good. Unfortunately, as soon as we ordered our food, we realize that this meal was not going to be very good. The tea was not very good and lacked any flavor. The Teriyaki beef was extremely overcooked. My wife had shrimp dish. Both dishes lacked any flavor. Both entrees tasted like they were missing ingredients. I would highly suggest that the owner start tasting the food before it is given to customers."

"Decent Japanese food, with decent service. If you are looking for very nice Japanese you'll likely be somewhere else. Good vegetarian choices, appetizers as well as entrees. The miso cod is good, as well as the volcano vegetarian roll. The set dinner at 27 is a pretty good choice."

"Sushi was delicious. Way better than Papajin. Grand Caribbean and Red Nori rolls were really good. My friend got the teriyaki with which I think he was satisfied. Drink selection is lacking, but there is a Walgreens right across the street which serves alcohol."

However, as time went on, I noticed that it was bustling with activity and patrons appeared to be satisfied with their decision to dine there. "This has become our staple go to Thai restaurant in the last year. Their take out and dine in are both equally convenient. We've gotten sushi here- which was really good. Their duck fried rice is an absolute favorite. This time we tried their daily special Volcano Roll which was also very good! Their thai iced tea is always very refreshing and delicious. "Forgot to post this on Wednesday night. Me and a best friend went there for dinner. It is his 1st time there I've been there before. The restaurant is small and it's fine. You can see the chefs making the sushi. The music was low but you can still hear it. For starters we had drinks. I had the pomegranate martini. My friend had the mango margarita. Both drinks were amazing. Then he had a Japanese beer. We order edamame as a starter. The main course we both ordered is Boston Maki (Tuna and Avocado) it was amazing. He orders the Fire Dragon Maki (Tempura Shrimp, Avacado Wrapped w/tuna and topped w/spicy shrimp, scallions, and sweet sauce). I order Dragon Mski (Tempura Shrimp, topped w/unagi, avocado, and unagi sauce without the mayo). The chef's special was Toro (Fatty Tuna). The service was great. Our server was nice and friendly. For sure we will be back."

"I have to admit that I am very impressed. My hotel suggested I take the 4 miles here instead of the place a few blocks away. The service was friendly and fast. The portion size is enormous, not to mention fresh, clean and tasty. They treated my gluten and egg allergies without problems. A will is back before I leave town."

"This was my second time at Ukai and the sushi was just as good if not better! With so many rolls to choose from, there’s plenty of options for everyone here. For appetizers, we got the Crab Rangoon and Takoyaki. We love the crab rangoons here, and the Takoyaki was good too just not our personal favorite. For sushi rolls we got the Spider, Green Dragon, and Spicy Scallop. All three rolls were fresh, flavorful, and unique. Even the Spicy Scallop Roll, the most “basic” of the rolls, was delicious and the scallop was so soft. My favorite of the three was the Green Dragon. Besides the food, the inside of the restaurant is beautifully designed and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and quick. I would highly recommend Ukai for fresh and delicious sushi!"

"The wait time is obviously depending on how busy they are. But once seated, we were approached by our server, who promptly got our drink orders. The service was not too bad seeing how crowded and busy they were. We got our food pretty quickly, and they were fresh and hot. We spent about $14-$23 per person. The most expensive ones in the menu are the bento boxes, of course. But I love how they have the variety of food choices to choose from, from Takoyaki and Calamari for appetizers , Ramens and Udons, Rolls and Hand Rolls, Bento Boxes, and Rice Bowls. There's something for everyone, meat lovers, seafood lovers, and even some vegetarian options."

"LOVE this place, I’m here all the time for sake and sushi. Their rolls are top notch and they have the best calamari I’ve found in the city. They have a great Happy Hour and the staff is always helpful and kind. They’re open late and they have great karaoke rooms but the noise has never been an issue. The only reason I don’t have photos is because I inhale the food before even getting the chance to take one. 10/10"
