"I had spent a few hours at white face mountain. Came down around 6:20 PM On a Tuesday in September 2020. I had seen a fast food place earlier A&W Thought I get something quickly. But they were closed at 5 PM. I drove a little further up the road and saw a lot of cars in front of this restaurant. So I decided to go in. As the restaurants in Lake Placid are often overpriced tourist traps and not very good food I walked in it was quite crowded which is a good sign because restaurants are empty usually aren't that good Even though it was busy as I said I was greeted very quickly by a nice hostess. She asked if I had a reservation and I said no and she said anyone else in your party I said just me. So she gave me a single table in a section near the bar with a few tables She brought over a menu and told me about the evening special: . Spaghetti with spicy sausage.. As I was looking over my menu a young man probably in college dressed in a bowtie and a nice shirt and pants with suspenders came up to my table. He said he's a magician and doing magic tonight. He had a deck of cards. He was very friendly yes wearing a mask. He asked me to take any card out of the deck which I did show it all around but don't show it to him. I put it back he shuffled around and tapped the top of the deck and there was my card. He did a number of other card tricks which were very impressive actually. They brought out nice warm fresh rolls another good sign. After a little while the waitress came back and asked what I had decided on. I told her that I couldn't decide between a good looking burger steak sandwich or steak. She said they're all very good. But the steak sandwich that night was buy one get one free. I was thinking of doing it but Didn't have ice in my cooler. So I decided on the steak ribeye substituted for sirloin which was on the menu. I also ordered baked potato and the side vegetable was corn The salad was good and I tried the fried oysters which were tasty. It was fun to watch the Young gentleman doing the card tricks at the table just across from me The steak came out and looked very impressive. The baked potato was done just right. Flavorful fresh not too well done but not too soft either. The corn also was very good. The steak had a nice seasoning and good flavor. It was cooked just right about medium or a little towards medium rare The waitress came by a few times along with another nice young lady asking how I am was enjoying my dinner. After finishing up and sitting for a little while I said to the young man if he still had some more magic for me before I left. He said magic is always happening it flows like a river So he came back to my table and did another fun card trick. That was a real nice touch seeing him at the beginning of the evening and the end of the evening. Like others I gave him a nice tip. He was a very friendly funny gentleman doing good card tricks I sat at my table for about 15 minutes after finishing eating letting the food digest and relaxing. I didn't feel the need to get up and leave so quickly the atmosphere the whole experience was so nice I definitely recommend coming here. Very friendly attentive service and very good food as well"
