"This is a tough place to review! I was torn between 3 and 4 stars and wish I could give 3.5. It was so hit and miss from the get go. We made a reservation, but stood at the door for at least 7 minutes before being greeted. It looked like they were understaffed for how busy they were, although not very busy, they had what looked like two or three servers for the entire restaurant, and no dedicated bartender. Our appetizer salads arrived before our drinks did. The drinks were good and the food was good, but the quality of service needs to be improved. Our server was very sweet and friendly but clearly new to the restaurant, not great at prioritizing tasks and even though I am from the industry and understand that servers need to eat when they have the chance, it dampens the experience to watch your server sit down at the bar near your table to eat her food when you are needing service. The food itself was delicious; it’s hard to go wrong with Italian food, but it was classically prepared and the portion sizes were generous. Another note to mention is the restaurant is in need of some deep cleaning. We noticed thick dust on many surfaces, stains in our menus, and the men’s bathrooms were very poorly maintained. All in all, not a horrible experience, but with so many other Italian restaurants to visit in the city we are unlikely to be back the next time we visit."

"At the end of April, our son's daughter, in the new rooftop room, held the trial dinner in the law. Chilly, so ceiling was closed, windows closed, heating on. Was very comfortable and still had a great view of the windows, and the modern style is very sharp, very beautiful. Rose and her crew took so much care that we informed my husband and me how the timing went, the bar-tab, etc., still be inconspicuous about it. Great service. And the FOOD!!! Everyone (and we speak 50 people) has swept over what food was good. Our second time at Il Sogno and I hope we can go back there. Absolutely recommend this restaurant without hesitation or reservation. Great food, great service, great ambience. Was great and easy to work with Rose to plan the food and this event. Yay Il Sogno!!"

"I love this place! My favorite is the tuna tartare; 3 out of 6 people at our table had that. The calamari also has this really food sauce. I have the Chicken Milanese as my meal. I have that a lot and it did not disappoint here. The lobster skillet could definitely use more lobster and a bit more flavor. Only other complaint was that the mimosas are a little weak."

"my friend and I were here before I saw a buddy. our server adelaide was incredibly attentive and friendly. adelaide recommended the strawberry mimosa and it was great. the pasta tasted homemade and it was very nice to sit on the window while it was raining. we made it to our show in a lot of time, loved the quick turn around the restaurant, although we like to stay longer!"

"We had a party of 7 that included 3 kids (12, 6, 3). When we were seated, we were the only customers. When ordering it was obvious that our waitress was new b/c for every question she needed to ask someone else for the answer. She ended up writing one of our orders down wrong, but came back after at least 15 minutes asked about the special order (which was actually a standard menu option). It took over 15 minutes to get our drinks (most water), 30 minutes to get our salads, over 70 minutes to get our main dishes. It was obvious that this was not a kitchen issue as other tables were served their food actually completed left before we got our main dishes. We are frequent customers of Luisa’s this is the first bad review I have had for them … they are typically very good. Someone in control should have stepped in and made sure this did not occur at this level."

"Unfortunately one of our two apps was not edible as the brussel sprouts were browned on the outside but raw on the inside returned to kitchen and thankfully removed from the bill. The shrimp in the Fettuccine Mediterraneo was so overcooked it was hard as rocks and not edible. Server said “well that’s the way it happens sometimes the shrimp is good and other times …” and walked away. She also lacked sorely in her wine service and appeared more interested in getting the check to us immediately and turning over the table after 75 80 minutes. We were celebrating my mother in law’s 91st bday so this was most disappointing. Regardless we made a great time of it as we love Carpaccio’s but we apparently caught it on a night with an inconsistent kitchen product and lackluster service for a very special occasion."

"We went there with a little trepidation after reading many of the negative reviews about the level of service, time for food etc so we had very low expectations. But we had a very pleasant experience so all in all we need not have worried about service at all.The staff were super friendly, very attentive and patient. I was totally surprised that our drink order was delivered even while we're just ordering it so definitely their service/speed has improved dramatically.Let's get the downside of this restaurant out of the way expect to pay more than your average chain restaurants. A lot more it is expensive.Now for the pizza it was amazing. Reminded me immediately of the pizza that we had in Italy. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. After almost 30 years in Chicago and eating deep dish, I am at a point where I much prefer the floppy NY style pizza or the Italian style. Napoli Per Tutti reminded me so much of Italy.We paid a little over $100 for 3 pizzas, bruschetta+ 2 Italian fizzy drinks.All in all a very pleasant experience with great food"

"Came across this restaurant on yelp and decided to stop in for a business trip while traveling with my colleagues and was appalled at this atrocious experience. To start, as they say first impressions are everything wow, upon arrival Lindsey the owner sat us and it took about 15 minutes to approach us, we noticed they were completely understaffed but decided to give it a chance. Our server (the owner) never gave us a smile or any ounce of friendliness while taking our order, in fact she was short abrasive and offensive with her facial gestures, not even allowing each person to finish their order before moving on to the next; nevertheless we ordered our food and awaited our drinks. 25 minutes later one of our items (tagliatelle with tomato sauce no sausage) was served, she didn 't stop to ask if we wanted Parmesan or any accompaniment, only the rest of your food will be out in a few minutes.... 15 minutes later the rest of our food arrived while our pasta went cold and EVERYTHING was Completely awful and underwhelming. Our wood fired pizza was burnt on top and soggy on the bottle and it was all entirely overpriced. Having lived in Italy, I can definitely vouch and say this was a sad and painful attempt at authentic Italian food . The only redeeming factor would normally be it 's family owned and operated but considering the offensive service we received from the owner herself I am disgusted with the entire experience. Our bill was about $300 for our table we asked for one item, a soup to he returned and although untouched were still charged. Extremely upsetting. Enter at your own risk."

"We were a party of four. We had a seven o'clock reservation. We were seated promptly. The waiter and the food was very good. Our bill was over $250.00. Before we could finish our deserts the bus boy was clearing the table. This included taking our water glasses almost out of our hands. "I used to visit this restaurant when it was called Bess, and finally had the chance to come for dinner under its current name. I decided to try the Meatball dish, unsure if it would be enough for a meal. To my surprise, it was not only satisfying but also delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy. I didn't need to worry about parking since I live downtown and could easily walk over. The restaurant is conveniently located on W 6th St, easily visible when driving west. It is situated next to a wine bar and Little Woodrow's."

"We had the best date dinner here about two weeks ago. Came for dinner cocktails (the Negroni is top animal), ended with dinner at the bar, because the bartender was just so friendly and what a large number of events it was! We shared a selection of appetizers: grilled octopus, land bread and a kind of broschetta with tomatoes and burrata, all absolutely delicious! The octopus was perfectly boiled and tender and we rode all the marinade provided with bread (only something that I would change is the quality of bread, it could definitely be improved - I was suffering in France but it was free, so no discomfort) and the broschetta with Burrata was so freshly tasty and bright, we were tried to order seconds of it. We shared an Auberginenparmigiana as the main and it was the best I ever had, all in all SUCH a pleasant meal, ambience was great, staff are beautiful, great experience in the whole area."
