Aromatic basmati rice cooked with tender goat meat and a blend of rich spices, garnished with herbs and fried onions.

"Based on an order of two entrees, bread and a glass of wine, we are impressed with the food and the ambience. Lamb saag had very good quality meat and the high-level of spice I requested. A little but not too much glaze from oil. Chicken Tikka masala, my wife's favorite, had very good quality chicken and the sauce was much better than the Campbell Soup variety that is often served at other establishments. Parata bread was quite good with layers. Restaurant design was pleasing (but they forgot to upgrade the bathroom). Would like to have more dishes to give a more thorough review, but I am certainly going back next time I am in town."

"Excellent food and ambiance. For the price serving is very generous. One thali is enough for 2 people. We didn't have an idea so we ended up ordering foor for 4 people intead of 2 ?. We love spicy food and we have asked to make it hot ? and it was hot spicy and tasty unlike most indian restaurants where the food is bland. Thali best thing was palak paneer and chicken makhani. Channay were ok and tikka was burnt. Tandoori platter loved the malai boti, kabab, shrimps with sauteed vegetables."

"This restaurant is located across the street but still it’s location is little unconnected with the market area, hence not easily visible. The appetizers were good but main course was above average ,it’s an mediocre Indian restaurant but prices are affordable. Restaurant is clean and servers are good. They mainly get take away orders hence usually empty if you’re dining there. weekends are busy because they serve buffet in good prices. Varieties in buffet is sufficient and hot. All n all we can revisit here."

"IF YOU HAVE NOT EATEN HERE BEFORE PLEASE TRY IT!!!!!!!!! I've been here twice for my birthday and both times it has been AMAZING!!!!! The food is consistently a 10/10, the service is consistently a 10/10, and the atmosphere is you guessed it consistently a 10/10!!!!!! Truly though this restaurant serves the best food I have ever experienced. You can taste the freshness in every bite and the ingenuity of the chefs shines through with every new dish added to menu! Overall I would give this restaurant an 11/10 and would recommend to anyone that likes good food! Vegetarian options: Paneer (which is a no-meat protein) is available as an alternative for every meal which allows nearly any dish to be made vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: They serve Halal meat and have a wide range of both vegetarian and vegan options Parking: Lots of space for parking and not often crowded Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible there's no blockage or stairs that prevent wheelchair access all the way from the parking lot into the actual restaurant. The bathrooms are also private and wheelchair accessible."

"Easily one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh. Many of the dishes in the lunch buffet rotate week to week allowing repeat patrons to try a great many of their amazing dishes. Always a friendly staff as well. Very happy for them to have expanded to Monroeville and always happy to see the restaurant full and often with a line out the door during buffet hours. They deserve the success!"

"My friend and I had a wonderful experience at Mela. The butter chicken and chicken vindaloo were both delicious, served promptly, and the service was excellent. We will definitely return in the future."

"I recently had my wedding ceremony here. Diya was a wonderful host and made sure everything came out in time and was perfect. My guests enjoyed the food and cannot wait to come back to the restaurant! The room is perfect for decoration and the team here is very accommodating. Will there be another event here in the future!!"

"OVERPRICED and poor quality food. They served very boney lamb curry and had fewer selection compared when they just opened. $18 for lunch buffet is pricey. Other places had better food selection and prices. Will not come back."

"It was good, except the food was quite spicy. The servers need to ask if they want it mild or spicy. We found most of the dishes spicy. We will try it again."

"my waiter gave me the confidence to try several new dishes. so I tried to feed the vegetable pakora. I decided to try the mushroom bhoona and ordered my favorite saag when the escape. I love my saag level. I was in restaurants that insist that my saag contains at least one of the usual ingredients: paneer, aloo and sometimes chana, which I then painfully get out of my saag. one of my raw food cookers, originally from india, had a bio restaurant. she told me why they committed me to trembling my saag. if that happens, I'll go up and never leave the restaurant back. but in this restaurant my waiter had no problem to submit my request at the place. the vegetable pakora first arrived. I really liked it. but there were the tamarind sauce and green chili chutney that the pakora really made excellent. when my man came to a call to eat his pakora, it was cold (he hates cold food.) but my man liked this cold pakora so much, he always tried to ask me about it while he breeds them at once down he usually eats it and asks for a question. After the pakora was completed, however, he immediately announced to order the pakora again at our next visit. the mushroom bhoona and the saag came together. both my man and I were very impressed by these exotic aromes. when the rice arrived that was taken up with the bhoona, we had most bhoona and saag eaten. my man is a rice fan, so he can just sit and eat rice himself if necessary. I usually do not eat white basmati rice. wild rice, brown or black rice. but when they brought out these basmati, I had to try. it had interesting spots of seasoning in it. after a bite I sat and ate the half of the plate with the rest of my saag. I mentioned my waiter how much I liked the basmati. he explained all the preparations that go into making this special dish. it was quite impressive and he seemed very pleased to hear that I liked it so much. I hope he shared my compliment with the kitchen. I liked the way our waiter observed our food needs again and again when he came past our table. I noticed he didn't want to interrupt our dinner. but I knew if I looked at him, he would have come directly to our table if we needed something. that is the sign of a sophisticated waiter for me. a trait that I rarely see more in restaurant waitstaff. at the end of our meal our waiter offered us a free sample of the gulab jamun desserts. After he described this, I know I didn't order it alone. but we still tried. my man just yelled at me when I tasted this overly sweet dessert. he had observed my expression when I tasted him and offered me the other half of his rehearsal. it didn't come surprised when I told him that the next time we came, I'd order the gulab jamun dessert. I asked him how he knew I liked it. apparently it was the ankle in my eyes when I took my first bite that there was gone. so, now it is obvious that we already planned our return to this restaurant on our next trip to fresno. not only eating is very nice, but our waiter has made me feel that I will not forget. so it's easy to forgive the little girl that went into mine when I first sat and my man was outside on a call. they rode on an unusually large cracker that was in her hand and from a strange background she jumped in and sat on the stand for several minutes. it seemed completely unlikely for the difference between a customer and an extended family. it was so strange, it was almost cute. but that immediately tells me that this flawless crew is family owned. but what is really etched in my mind, in the last moments of this culinary experience, was the hectic attempt of the owner. our waiter was not far behind the owner who ran into our car with my mobile phone charger base. it had fallen out of my handbag in our stand. I am so grateful to this gracious owner and my waiter that he gave it back to me before we get away. I would never have been able to complete my work projects, emails and text messages without my cell charger base. the demanding waiter skills of our waiter, combined with my saag accommodation and the desperate attempt by the owner to return my cell charger base, shows me that it is not by chance that this restaurant serves such fine quality meals. this is the first time that my man and I plan our next visit in a restaurant on the APPETIZER course! So, for a high quality north indian restaurant with excellent eating and excellent service, I recommend you to make their first stop in tandoori night!"

"On October 11, 2022, I ordered 9 items for lunch. After spending $130.48 on food, I was really disappointed if the food was not delicious. The Chana Saag did not taste like the authentic Mother Paneer brand, the Vegetable Jhalfrezi had too much salt, and the Yellow Dal Tadka needed to be tasted again for freshness. The Naans, Kulcha, and Roti were all made freshly, but the Roti was as hard as cardboard. It was a very bad experience, as restaurants rely on the credibility of their food quality."

"We went for dinner tonight. Excellent food! We started with the Malai Jhinga and the mulligatawny soup both were beyond good. I had the chicken hariyali and the husband had chicken tandori. Again, both were very good. We also ordered a side of biriyani rice, aloo nan and cucumber raita. Everything was cooked to perfection with perfect spices. (We ordered it mild) Pompa dan and a chutney variety was served as a complimentary starter as well. Yummy! I ordered the Taj Mahal beer, which was very fragrant and pleasantly crisp with a bit of a citrus finish. Lovely! We finished with a chai tea and a madras coffee. It was excellent! We will be back!"

"Delicious food, impeccable service, and a back room that was perfect for a group of 22 British expats who know/miss a good curry. Our thanks to Sunny and team for a perfect night out. We appreciate that food is cooked to order and served to preference, which provided time to enjoy your lovely starters over conversation. Thank you for permitting us to linger (pre and post meal) at the bar. We'll definitely return to our neighbourhood favourite!"
