Brace yourself for an experience that might not live up to your expectations.As an Alaskan native, I admit I'm a bit skeptical of anything claiming to embody the spirit of my home state. Regrettably, the service at this bakery didn't exactly impress me, no matter where one comes from.Consider my attempt to order an iced latte. Instead, I received a piping hot beverage with hazelnut syrup and a separate cup of ice. As if a cold coffee without any flavor was an unthinkable request, it was made clear that there was no intention to re-make the drink. So, disappointed, I poured my hazelnut latte over the ice, watching it transform into a watery imitation of what it should have been. Management: If making coffee is a struggle, maybe it's best to just not to offer it, especially in Seattle.There was a bright spot in the experience; while the Danish $4.50) was hard to enjoy alongside my diluted beverage, the Double Chocolate Brownie $4) was a chocolate lover’s fix that shut me up for long enough to forget about my coffee.The Alaska Sourdough Bakery offers a glimpse of the Last Frontier, unfortunately, it’s a glimpse of the Carrs on Gambell. Tainted by a low-key aggression and a confusing approach to coffee-making. Proceed with caution, I’m sure it’s a great place, just don’t order a coffee and it'll probably be fine."
