"While the outdoor setting at the historic hotel was very pleasant, and the quality of the food was okay, the service and expense left us dissatisfied. Our waiter could not have been more detached and disinterested. It was nearly impossible to get his or anyone else’s attention to refill a coffee cup or bring an extra napkin, and getting the check was especially difficult. Then to find that they built in an 18% “service charge” to the overly-expensive meal made it all feel a bit more like theft than service. A very simple breakfast for my wife and daughter and I was well over $100.00. Disappointing. It felt like all we were paying for was the ambience. Not that we ever plan to go back to that filthy, rundown, and degenerated part of L.A. again (Hollywood) but, if we did, we wouldn’t likely eat at the hotel."
