"Food was not as good as it used to be! Disappointing. The sushi was still good but the cooked food was not. Prime rib and sirloin at the carving station was overcooked and inedible!"

"They never disappoint. The chicken is cooked to perfection every time and so juicy. Kinda hard to not order from them everyday! The chaufa rice is so flavorful and delicious and the servings are great portions for the price."

"I've been eating Mexican food all my life, I have a love hate relationship with it. It's everywhere and everyone has a Taco Tuesday. My family has gone to Talpa since it opened, so I might be a little partial, but it might be my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. It's literally had similar decor since I was a kid save for the bar area. Wait staff's service is consistent and good. The menu is small but always solid, a few changes over the years, but quality and execution always excellent. I have my favorites like the Machaca or the Cosido or the Chile Verde depending on my mood. In all my years going, never been disappointed! If you're looking for a new trendy Mexican spot with a TV chef, Talpa isn't the one for you. If you want an excellent spot to take the family where no one will be disappointed. THIS IS IT!"

"The michelada mix was one of the best we’ve ever had. The chips and salsa may seem like a simple appetizer, but I have to mention them because the heat from the chili builds pleasantly on the back of your palate. The variety of chilaquiles options made me feel like a kid in a candy store. The quality of the food was excellent. My family and I don't typically eat Tex-Mex, as my wife is a second-generation from Jalisco, Mexico, and can be quite critical of authentic Mexican cuisine. However, she loved everything, especially her barbacoa tacos. As long as the quality remains consistent, we will definitely be coming back."

"Berkeley has a strange dearth of Mexican restaurants when compared to the rest of the bay area. That's what makes El Talpense invaluable. They've got it all, and it's all good food. Street tacos . Super burritos . Free chips and salsa . Quesabirria tacos . Happy hour drink deals . Enchiladas, tamales, rellenos, etc. A great spot near campus. Also low-key a great spot to go and watch sports on their TVs."

"Been to El Rincon more times than I can count and the food is always delicious. However, the server named Ruby has given us a terrible experience both times we’ve had her recently. Her section was not busy, and my husband waited 25 minutes with an empty water cup while Ruby checked on every other table in her section. Last time we had her, she was standing around talking instead of helping. 10/10 restaurant. 0/10 server."

"cool place and the server were very friendly and attentive. went while happy hour and it was really not a deal with just $2 out of certain drinks. the food was good and portions were generous, but nothing from the ordinary in a city with so many great authentic Mexican restaurants was simply ok. definitiw more from a hipster pot. it is waaaaay overpriced for what it is. we have a stand that was perfect for the recovery so that noise level was not a problem. super dark in there. nice that they were brave because the parking lot in this is terrible, but why do I have to pay $7 plus tip when my car was 5 feet away from me. overall it was just good, but probably wouldn't choose again"

"We tried to keep it simple and order tacos with no meat sub beans and they wouldn't do it!!! So we ordered a side of rice and beans and a side of tortillas and made them ourselves. Even Taco Bell can make a taco without meat. Such a disappointment."

"I had been searching for a decent Mexican restaurant near my workplace for lunch. After trying out a few places without much luck, I decided to give Frank Gina's a shot. The carne asada fries caught my attention for $10, as listed on the menu. I placed my order for takeout. The service was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was fantastic. Although I was charged $13.50, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for the difference. I would definitely recommend Frank Gina's Cocina and will certainly return!"
