"We have been to KJ’s fish market and admired the freshness. We live an hour away, so it wasn’t really on our radar for a ‘date night’. Da Missus decided she wanted to go to KJ’s for sushi for her birthday. We sat at the sushi bar and chatted with the food prep folks. Fernando was very informative and very friendly. Our server, Sydney, was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu items. My wife had the deluxe sashimi platter it was LOADED with several generous servings of various fish. You could taste the freshness and they serve REAL crab, not the imitation stuff like most places. I had the Hoosier Roll and Dynamite roll. both were excellent. You could taste the freshness of the fish, it wasn’t overpowered by everything else. And there was a LOT of flavor packed into each roll. We have had a lot of sushi over the years being from California we were accustomed to getting fresh fish, sometimes going to the dock and getting it right off the boat. Kona Jack’s reminded us of that experience quality food and outstanding staff. We will be back!!"

"Darryl, our server, was outstanding! He did a great job with service and the staff here are the stars of the hour. For an appetizer, the calamari is the best I've had. The food in general was decent. The decor is in need of updating. While I understand that it is themed, it desperately needs a refresh. It detracts from the ambiance and the price point doesn't seem to match the quality."

"Sunday night!! If you love sushi this is the spot. On Sunday night you get half off rolls. I am vegetarian so that limits me to the Veggie And ultimate veggie. Next time I will ask to substitute the eel or salmon for a cucumber so that I can try different varieties. The vibe is classic MASS AVE. nothing to report there The drinks taste like $6 Sunday specials. It’s a requirement to buy a drink to get half off the rolls. I participated in a pomegranate mojito friends. It was okay. I don’t frequent this place often but may consider being a regular the Veggies rolls hit well with me. I prefer the wrap from the ultimate veggie than the seaweed wrap. sushi sushi! Like the pic friends!!!"

"I struggled with this review. Hino Oishi is close to our new home and as much as I love Japanese food/culture, etc., I don 't feel that a top rating is warranted. We sat on the table side , the smaller portion of the restaurant versus the hibachi side . The table side had a few (3 to 4) of maybe a dozen tables occupied. The hibachi side was not completely full but close to it..with families and friends having a great time. We ordered two servings of miso soup, gyoza, and chirashi (sashimi) with sushi rice. I did not find the sashimi as fresh as I am accustomed to, even in Indiana. Just did not seem as good as I expected it to be. Now I am not using the East Coast or West Coast or even Japan (having spent considerable time in all three areas) as the standard. But given what we experienced, I felt I had to give Hino Oishi three of five stars. So Sorry. Note, however, the server was quite good and very prompt. We might try again...don 't know yet."

"Good sushi. I had better. But it wasn't *Terrible* either. This is my wife and my opinion about the sushi dinner we had in Kabuto the other night. The freshest? The most unique? But it's decent sushi at a decent price. We sat by the sushi manufacturer himself, but this does not lead to thinking too much about a place when you see three big tubs of JRC 'Heavy Duty Mayonnaise ' (that was really the name of it) sitting behind the bar. I know pretty much all sushi sites use it, but I 'd like if they 'd hide it a little better.<br/ <br/ Anywho, this is a nice enough space for you to check it yourself. I wouldn't be afraid of it, but Ichiban is a little better overall for your next sushi gift."
