"As a former New Yorker who used to bring back the best pizza from NY in my luggage, I can say that Sal's pizza is excellent. It would definitely hold its own if it were located in New York near other pizzerias. There are several locations in Wisconsin, each with small differences. The founder of this chain is frequently at the FDL location. If you enjoy NY style pizza, you will be pleased if you give Sal's a try. For those who have never had NY pizza, I'm not doing Sal's justice because it's much better, but for those unfamiliar, it is closest in crust style to Sbarro. The appearance of the shop may not impress you, but it is typical for a New York pizzeria and, most importantly, it is always clean. When you try it for the first time, order a whole pizza to ensure it is piping hot and 100% fresh - the mozzarella is almost like a thick liquid when it comes out of the oven, so be cautious. Let it cool for 1-2 minutes or you risk burning your palate, but savor the taste of real southern Italian pizza (even though it's not from a wood-fired oven). It's delicious. Enjoy."
