"The interior featured large screens alongside beautiful African art adorning the walls, and even the cushions on the booths were dressed in vibrant African fabric. The menu showcased a variety of West African dishes from Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia, including delights like pounded yam, jollof rice, and attieke. They even offered a few Jamaican specials, paying homage to the wider diaspora.
I opted for the okra (ila) stew with goat meat, which was expertly seasoned and paired perfectly with the pounded yam (iyan). Since I was driving, I skipped the beer and chose a refreshing ginger sorrel drink, commonly linked to Jamaica but also enjoyed in Sahelian regions. I couldn't resist finishing my meal with pepper soup, and the spicy cow foot soup met my expectations beautifully.
I also decided to take home some moin moin (bean custard) to enjoy for breakfast the next day. The service was warm and friendly, and there was ample parking available. While I was there, I noticed at least four takeaway orders being picked up, a testament to the restaurant’s local popularity. This meal not only brightened my day but of my week as well."
