"Upon entering, I was greeted by the delightful ambiance of a vintage ice cream shop. I chose a booth towards the back wall, surrounded by nostalgic decor, which even included a vintage barber chair—perhaps a sign that I need a haircut!
The staff were busy attending to customers, but one person stood out to me: Granny. Without a doubt, she's one of the friendliest people I've ever encountered in the service industry. Her warmth felt genuine and not scripted at all. She took my order with attentiveness, ensuring everything was correct, and promptly brought me a steaming cup of excellent coffee.
Before long, my hearty farm-style breakfast arrived. It featured sunny-side-up eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and toast—yes, please! A pleasant surprise was that the eggs were seasoned, which is often overlooked in restaurants. Huge thanks to the chef for that! The meal was fantastic, and the coffee kept coming.
I considered trying some of their homemade ice cream afterward, but I was too full from the delicious pancakes. Just as I started eating, it seemed like the rest of the staff took a break, except for Granny. I was impressed by how efficiently she managed what felt like an endless line of ice cream customers. She maintained her friendly demeanor while expertly handling each situation.
I aspire to be as precise and welcoming as Granny when I get older. If you find yourself on Market Street looking for a great breakfast or brunch, make sure to stop by Chaps Ice Cream and say hello to Granny. This place definitely deserves an A!"
