"My wife and I went to Zeni Ethiopian restaurant with our neighbors, who recommended it. The outside of the restaurant is nothing remarkable, but once you get inside, it is very nice. There are two seating sections: one contemporary, and the other traditional Ethiopian. We ended up sitting in the contemporary, to the disappointment of our neighbors. As this was my first time eating Ethiopian food, I can’t tell you how it compares to other restaurants. I can tell you, however, that it was incredibly tasty, and the communal method of eating created a lively experience. I’m not exactly sure what we ordered (the wives placed the order), but it was a very reasonably priced 5-item combo. Looking at the menu, I know we ordered the YE DORO WOT, which was a chicken drumstick served in a dark, spicy sauce with a hard boiled egg and homemade cheese, as well as YE DORO TIBS, another chicken dish. The vegetarian combo was a nice selection because it gave a sampling of various items. I’m not sure which beef dish we ordered, but it was excellent. When your order is ready, they bring out an extremely large plate covered with a layer of Injera (unleavened bread), and they scoop the entrees on top. They serve rolls of injera on the side, which you tear into pieces and dip into the entrees. They recommended using small pieces of bread to avoid filling up on it. The meal was incredible, and we ended up with leftovers to take home. We ended the evening with the best baklava I’ve had, and the bill was only $40 per couple. Rated best Ethiopian in Silicon Valley the past several years."
