"WHAT A SHAME! We've been to Sushi Room, and its sister (Mama Mia) next door, several times in recent years. On our recent visits to both, we noticed that service was going downhill, but this time it was so bad that we WALKED OUT and will never return. Here's the timeline: Thursday evening, 7:40 p.m. – wife walked in (while I looked for parking) and was seated, but waiter advised that kitchen was backed up and there would be somewhat of a wait for food. 7:50 – I arrived, no menus yet nor had waiter been back. 8:00 – I walked over to waiter and asked for menus. His reply: “The kitchen is very backed up. It will be 45 minutes to get food.” I replied: “WHAT does that have to do with giving us menus and taking a drink order?” He practically threw menus at our table and ran off so fast that we couldn’t even ask for drinks. Why did we stay at this point? Only because we had a Groupon expiring in 3 days. 8:15 – I found a manager and told him what was going on, asked him for water and ice tea, and could we at least put an order of edamame in. He said he would take care of it. 8:30 – I practically had to grab waiter as he was scurrying by our table, and asked him if we could please place our order. “Well,” he huffed, “there’s going to be at least a half hour wait for food.” I said: “Maybe if you had taken our order a half hour ago, it would be coming out soon.” He replied, with annoyance: “NO. No it wouldn’t.” I told him we were leaving and he wasn’t the least bit concerned. Tracked down same manager and told him as well; he didn’t even apologize or show any degree of concern! In addition to horrible service, they’ve now turned the bar area on the Mama Mia side into somewhat of a club, so the pounding music carries throughout not only Mama Mia but even into Sushi Room through the open interior door. This place has really declined; the food (if/when you get it) may be good, but the unpleasant experience just isn’t worth it, with so many other choices in the area. Stay away!"
