"We were celebrating my husband’s birthday as he loves Indian food. Were seated at a nice cozy table in a corner. Waiter seemed okay but after our appetizer (sorry, don’t remember but it was -grated onions fried in balls) my entree came but as time went by, my husband’s entree did not. Waiter was not easy to flag down nor attentive. Seemed like he didn’t know what waiting on patrons involved. Didn’t check our water glasses. Finally when asked about the entree he tried to blame us that we hadn’t ordered! We pointed out specifically how we ordered. It took another reminder before that entree arrived. The lighting was nicely low but not dark. At one point our waiter turned it up much brighter which was harsh and unpleasant. We said something but he didn’t seem to understand and never turned it down. My entree, the house special lamb kebabs, was inedible. Dry, unseasoned, not flavorful and tough. I ate less than half. They did not ask us how our meal was but a young woman waitress did offer 15% off my entree because I wasn’t happy. His service was very bad. The atmosphere was lovely. The food- not worth ever going there again and they didn’t seem to care. Surprising in times like these when restaurants have struggled. We want to give small businesses abs eateries the business but when it seems they don’t care and don’t care about service- we can easily go elsewhere."

"This place was highly recommended when you visit the Pasadena area. I was quite hesitant as I received many sushi recommendations, but not overly impressed. Growing up in Japan and after Tsukiji many times for sushi go directly from the boats, I am picky when it comes to sushi. However, SugarFish was very impressive. We arrived early land were ready to wait as there is probably only enough space for 30 people at a time and it is very popular. Thankfully we sat within 30 minutes. I was told they used to have outside seats during the pandemic, but the tables are only inside now. We sat right away and Paul was our server. Paul made an amazing job as he was very attentive, polite, helpful and friendly. Ordnete Omakase style, so ordered the Nozawa Trust Me. It is about 10 different plates spaced apart. This allows you a lot of time to enjoy every plate and allow the chefs to make fresh every plate. The timing was right, not ever feeling rushed or waiting too long between each record. You also bring all a la carte requests so that you can eat the dishes in the order provided. Each sushi was extremely fresh, well plated and presented, and had this smooth buttery texture. In addition to the Trust Me order, individual Sushi of the Bay Scallops, Hokkaido Sea Scallops, Uni and another order of the Daily Special ordered as it was so good. This place is not a tipping restaurant, but there is a 16% service fee added to your bill. I had nothing to do with it when I had tipped more than 16% and probably closer to 30%, as Paul did an excellent job. Great sushi and service, so will definitely make a return trip if back in the LA area."
