"I was craving biryani and after reading positive reviews about this place, I decided to visit. It is situated in the Oakland neighborhood surrounded by many Pitts buildings. The interior is a bit run-down and not very inviting. I considered getting takeout instead of dining in because of this. The ambiance is definitely not the reason to visit, but the hospitality is worth mentioning. While I waited for my order, I was pleasantly surprised with a glass of cold water and a bowl of rice pudding, known as Payesh in Bengali. Where else can you get a complimentary dessert with takeout? This is true South Asian hospitality. The biryani itself was better than average. It was not the traditional Bengali biryani with potatoes and eggs that I am used to, but seemed to be a blend of Bangladeshi biryani which was a new experience for me. It was heavily seasoned and the portion size was generous. I may return to try the buffet as it is apparently popular among customers. Overall, it is a great choice if you are looking for good value."
